Smart Confirms Plans to Launch the 2015 Fortwo
|   Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Smart's long awaited replacement for the successful Fortwo is finally here. This vehicle was much anticipated over the years and we are finally glad to catch a glimpse of what looks like the 2015 Smart Fortwo. Even though the Fortwo is nearly one and a half decades old, its brand value is without doubt at its highest in its lifetime. Smart is therefore rebuilding this vehicle on a whole new platform, including modern technology and equipments.

Smart is also looking at ways to enhance safety levels while making it internationally acknowledgeable by enhancing interior trim and exterior parts, although major modifications are not expected in order to preserve the originality of this vehicle.
The platform has received quite a few modifications, including reduction in dimensions. Although this makes the vehicle smaller on the outside, cabin space has not been affected.

Even though this must sound impossible, additional space has been saved owing to use of modern technology in designing this vehicle. Basic underpins have been shared with Renault's Twingo and Smart's ForFour. It is due to arrive in showrooms fall 2014 and we expect high bookings and sales once it reaches out to customers. Smart has however enlarged the width of this vehicle which hopefully will give it better stability and traction as compared to its current version.

The best feature about Smart is their advanced designing which enables their vehicles to be parked with their nose into the pavement. This should be a great appeal for European markets, especially Italy, where parking spaces are tight and 3 meter spaces are left for cars to be parked with their nose up. Engine specifications are interesting and we expect a 1.0 liter eco friendly engine to be its primary crowd puller.

Economic friendliness along with environment consciousness is its positive aspect while petrol and diesel options are also widely appreciated and used. EU6 compatible engines are available on this vehicle and this is considerably new as these engines are not available in budget vehicles. Smart has also worked on its manual transmission system and hence we get a more responsive transmission box, which enhances general drive dynamics.

Battery life on this vehicle has increased while better economy is also on the cards. Torque interruptions have been banished owing to the latest torque dispatcher. Hence, this vehicle is smoother to drive on road, under perfect road conditions. Smart is also working closely on a Cabriolet version of its Fortwo and this vehicle should be available soon enough. Spy images of a camouflaged vehicle from Smart were leaked a few weeks ago although we were not sure which vehicle it belonged to.

However, we are now confident about its make and model although details regarding interior and exterior are highly anticipated. Minimalistic trim levels have been maintained to keep its price tag low while optional accessories are available to give specific customers what they are looking for. Smart has done a great job with their latest Fortwo and we expect high sales in economic urban environments.
