Skoda's new Rapid Spaceback is any Driver's Dream Car
|   Wednesday, October 09, 2013
Skoda has just unveiled the second most spacious vehicle in its lineup – the Rapid Spaceback. This car should be available across showrooms by the end of this month while a test mule was driven by our expert, around a track to get the hang of it. The first thing you notice about this car is its quirky nature. It is sportier than its predecessor and this is mainly due to advanced technology behind designing.

Skoda's Rapid Spaceback competes with Hyundai's i30, Volkswagen's Golf and Kia's Cee'd quite effortlessly and every vehicle has its unique characteristics.
However, when it comes to cabin space and boot capacity, nothing comes close to what Skoda has to offer. With its rear seats removed, Rapid Spaceback has 1380 liters of boot space while normally it is close to 415 liter. Golf on the other hand offers 1318 liters with its rear seats removed.

Despite its larger cabin space, this vehicle is actually shorter than its saloon counterpart, even though cabin space is practically the same. Skoda will be offering two petrol engines and one diesel engine on this car once it launches in January 2014. A 1.2 liter Green Tech engine is the masterpiece behind this vehicle and is the primary reason behind its demand in global markets.

On road, this vehicle is comfortable to drive and ride in while a slew of technical and electrical features make the drive experience smooth. Power to weight ratio is quite high with overall weight equaling 1170 kg. The engine displaces sufficient amounts of power while being mated to a six speed transmission system. This is the perfect car for use in hilly terrain as Skoda has added Advanced Terrain Control in this car.

Plus its small turbo charged engine makes sure that this car develops sufficient power even in low amounts of air pressure. Hence, performance wise, this car is up to its task on hilly terrain. Handling wise, Skoda has made quite a few modifications which help keep this vehicle on road at all times. Safety is of primary concern since this vehicle will be sold throughout Europe and most parts of America.

People over six feet can easily fit inside this vehicle as head and leg room are sufficiently high. Interior modification has not been done completely and this car bears resemblances to its predecessor. Although things are not completely bland, they could have been better at some point. Skoda has tried to maintain interior comfort, practicality and user friendliness while compromising on style. This is not such a bad thing as prices have been kept under wraps this way.

Skoda offers great value for money with the Rapid Spaceback, hence people have been lining up to get their vehicles booked on pre order. Skoda is hopeful of high opening sales and with this type of hype in the market it will be surprising if this car gets cold reactions. In class however, it is without doubt one of the best we have or could hope for.
