Skoda Vision C Announces The Czech's First Five-Door Coupe
|   Tuesday, March 04, 2014
The next Skoda Octavia generation will be presented to the public with more aggressive lines, which will borrow from a concept that the Czechs will show at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Its official name: Vision C.

Skoda goes to the next level of design of its own game. At the Geneva Motor Show, the Czech Republic brand will present the concept car Vision C which announces the lines that Skoda will usually require on its next generation of models.

And if until now we were talking about a car brand that had particularly well-behaved lines, and a certain degree of conservatism, the new prototype manages to put some salt and pepper on its tradition, and stands out with courage and aggression from an aesthetic point of view.

With the new prototype, Skoda announced its intention to abandon the classical rectangular lights that made history in the last decade on the brand's sedan generations, their place being taken by aggressive triangular lines, somewhat reminiscent of design patterns adopted by Seat in recent times.

The most notable visual element that makes its appearance on the new Skoda Concept Vision C are lights which give, for the first time after many years, the stylized shape of the letter C, in order to adopt modern and dynamic lines.

Based on modular MQB platform, of the VAG group, used by Octavia, the Vision C will appeal to design fireworks typical of the coupe: an extremely steep ceiling, narrow side windows and windshield angle stronger.

Unlike its corporate brother, VW Passat CC, the Skoda Vision C has five doors, not four. This four-door solution was preferred by Audi A5 Sportback variant. This way, Skoda does not sacrifice anything in the practical spirit of a hatchback, a sedan's elegance and the dynamism of a coupe.

The Vision C brings a welcomed air of elegance and freshness in the Skoda range, relying on expression and emotion, to open a new chapter for the Mlada Boleslav brand's design. The first production model that will illustrate the new stylistic language, will be the new Fabia expected this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

"We are signaling the next stage in the evolution of Skoda's design language with 'Skoda VisionC', and thus highlighting the dawn of the brand. The vehicle demonstrates the company's outstanding design and engineering expertise, and underpins the dynamism and value of one of the world's longest-established automotive companies" stated Skoda CEO Dr. Windried Vahland.

Officially, the Vision C is just a design study, but Skoda is planning a five-door coupe derived from the new Octavia. The series model will be the starting point for an RS Extreme version of at least 300 hp. At present the most powerful Skoda RS develops 220 hp.

Besides the unique aesthetic concept, Skoda uses its launch opportunity for the presentation of an engine that uses gasoline and natural gas to operate. This is an adapted version of the 1.4-liter TSI unit of the Volkswagen Group range. According to official data, the new engine is a 1.4 TSI concept making 110 hp and 99 g CO2/km, able to operate on gasoline or natural gas CNG.
