Skoda Showcases the Uplifted Third Generation Octavia vRS
|   Wednesday, June 12, 2013
The all new Skoda Octavia has entered its third generation of production and ironically, this is the fastest production model of the Octavia till date. Called the Octavia vRS, this high performance diesel vehicle will be available in a variety of body forms such as sedan, estate and hatchback. Skoda is also considering the use of a petrol engine as an option although there is a little time before that happens. The Skoda Octavia vRS is capable of accelerating from 0 - 60 MPH within 6.
seconds while featuring a top speed of 154 MPH.

Skoda confirms that the Octavia vRS will be unveiled officially at the Good Wood festival of Speed 2013 which is scheduled to commence in July and this vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2.0 liter TSI petrol powered engine designed by the engineers at Volkswagen Group. This engine has also been used on the Volkswagen Golf GTI and is capable of displacing 217 and 181 BHP respectively. The diesel Octavia vRS is capable of travelling from 0 - 60 MPH within 8.1 seconds while supporting a top speed of 144 MPH.

Both engines are however mated to a six speed dual clutch DSG transmission system while Skoda confirms that the fuel efficiency has been enhanced by 19 percent. Sports suspension has been installed on this vehicle and this gives it an enhanced appeal while driving on real road conditions. The steering column is progressive and light weight while the ratio has been efficient set up. This means easier handling and superb control and the conditions are perfect for cornering smooth.

He Octavia vRS is also visually different from the standard Octavia and this is mainly owing to the slipped differential attached to the vehicle. The front grille is completely new while the air intake features a honeycomb maze design which is both economic and mechanically viable. The rear and front bumpers have been modified as well and these distinguish the vRS from the general Octavia. Skoda has also installed LED on the front and rear section of the vehicle and these integrated LEDs enhance the way the car looks.

Complete leather upholstery has been installed and this gives the vehicle an enhanced feel. The visual aesthetics have also been increased while the instrument panel has been done up in black. vRS badging has been used on the interior of the car while the general black trim casts a shadow around the vehicle. When it comes to the visual appeal of the car, the Octavia vRS sports a killer look.

Skoda has done a commendable job with the third generation Octavia and this vehicle is bound to sell. The Octavia vRS is expected to be priced close to£22,500 while it should be available in showrooms across the UK fall September 2013. The sports rims further enhance the way this vehicle handles and looks and a smaller platform should do good considering its potent urban driving capabilities. An estate could also be launched in the near future.
