Skoda Keen to Reveal the Price and Specification of the 2014 Fabia
|   Wednesday, September 18, 2013
Even though the next generation variant of the Skoda Fabia is due by end 2014, the hype regarding this vehicle is high. There have been rumors however that this vehicle is currently on road, disguised as the Volkswagen Golf. Insiders reveal that technical specifications of both these machines are same and if we understand one, we can understand the other. This gives us a rough idea of what to expect from Skoda, when it comes to exterior design.

Ironically, in a recent news reporting, Dr.
Frank Welsch, Head of Development, Skoda, revealed that the company plans to axe its Fabia vRS, although SEAT's Ibiza Cupra and Volkswagen's Polo will not be replaced by the next generation Fabia. Skoda axed this car as even though people loved it, it failed to gain sufficient sales. A deciding factor could have been its pricing.

Even though a Fabia is moderately priced for a budget sensitive market across continents, the vRS was relatively pricier and this could have led to its ultimate failure across global markets. List of optional features on this car include Monte Carlo style frame and alloy rims. Although Welsch claimed that a vRS is not needed right now, possibility of a future vRS model remains.

Some markets accepted the vRS quite well and this is exactly where Skoda plans on getting back to in future. Skoda has recently changed its basic designing principles and all new launches feature a new exterior and interior design. An example of this trend is the new Rapid and the Octavia. A refurbished front end, Skoda's typically designed grille, LED Daytime Running Lights and headlamps are the new additions to the range.

Redesigned C pillars along with bright color schemes make these cars lively and bright. Special Editions such as Monte Carlo feature visual updates as well as performance modifications and this enhances the way Skoda designed these packs for these cars. Insiders are thrilled to announce launch of this new car although controversy within Skoda could arise as valuable information leading to the whereabouts of its 2014 model were leaked.

Platform and drive train changes have been made along with exterior changes on the 2014 variant of the Fabia and these modifications could be seen on future models from the Volkswagen Group. MQB is a one of a kind, light weight platform used in most vehicles nowadays and its use to build the 2014 Fabia is great news as performance parameters of this vehicle are to improve. A test mule has been unveiled although it is yet to be open for on road tests.

Drive parameters should be similar to that of the Volkswagen Polo, although this cannot be confirmed without a formal test drive, both on road and round a track. A few primary modifications such as a reduction in height and a larger chassis are evident. As the parameters of Euro 6 have grown stringent, new breed of engines have grown more powerful and fuel and environment friendly. As a result, these cars should do well once they are officially inducted into the lineup.
