As World Rally Series owned by Volkswagen, so they are celebrating and they should too. But one should not forget the achievement that Skoda provided via its Fabia S2000 during the lower level rally shows. Now the same model's successor is coming soon via this Czech automaker as the name Skoda Fabia's R5.

Last year, the R5 was previewed as just a concept which now has got completed with all development processes and also has earned the FIA certificate.
It looks like a renewed form of Fabia Hatchback to be fit for rallies. It generates power from a 1.6 liter size turbo four, four wheeled drive engine having five speeds sequential transmission. It replaced the atmospheric 2.0 liter engine S2000. It weighs 2,712 pounds as per FIA regulations.

The customer teams who challenge rally arrays and championships all over the world can avail the new Fabia R5. Previous model Fabia S2000 scored about 50 rallies and few of them are international rallies too. Frank Welsch, the Development Board Member for SKODA said that company is really delighted to get the green light for Fabia R5 from the FIA. Now they just need to prove that this rally car is capable of winning more rallies than anyone else does. This is the third generation of Fabia and they have incorporated few genes of older rally cars to make it the best emotional Fabia till date.

The latest rally car from SKODA's house really consists of high technologies. Its four wheeled drive option has McPherson struts. After a year and three months of hard work and intense development in this project they managed to produce a fine tuned and ultra modern component based car. It went through a homologation process which is a very time taking and complex process. It needs strong cooperation from FIA and supports for having new parts. Recently, SKODA Fabia's R5 went through a thorough approval process which finally ended with successful results. The team accepted that developing this concept would be a great challenge for entire team of SKODA Motorsport.

Development of this new rally model involved supports in the likes of top drivers like Jan Kopecky (Asia-Pacific Champion), Esapekka Lappi (European Champion), Freddy Loix (Rally Legend) and Raimund Baumschlager (Austran Champion). It was tested by moving almost 10,000 kilometers of wide roads of Austria, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Greece and France. It never mattered how tough the environment was, the Fabia R5 just went on to pass each test with great results.

Many customer teams have already showed their interest towards Fabia R5. Everyone is aware of its successor Fabia S2000 which was a born winner. Many teams won so many titles with that model and they want to repeat their winning habit with its upgraded version R5. Michal Hrabanek, the Director of SKODA said that this new model has the ability to bring those days back when winning rallies was not a great challenge. A successful homologation will surely bring the next phase project of Fabia R5.
