July analyzes revealed that in the premium segment, the 3 giants, Mercedes, BMW and Audi recorded increased sales, but most of them were won by Mercedes which succeeded to increase its advance over its rivals.

At the end of the first half of the year, carmakers do the calculations and draw the line. In the premium segment, the top for the first 6 months of the year looks like this: Mercedes is the leader of the top, with BMW coming in 2nd place, while Audi ranks third place.

Stuttgart manufacturer said that in July, they sold 163.770 units, 9.4% more than in the same period last year. The main market responsible for this increase was that of China, where Mercedes sold 20% more vehicles. In addition, the Germans are placed in a good position at European level as well, where their sales increased by 6.2%, selling 69,000 vehicles.
As expected, the new Mercedes E-Class proved to be the jackpot winner and enjoys a growing popularity among customers, contributing significantly to the high sales.

BMW also reported a sales increase in July; the Bavarians managed to sell 153,000 vehicles, 4% more than in the same month last year. Similar to rivals from Stuttgart, China was the main market for BMW, where they managed a sales increase of 5.3%, while the European market brought an increase of 4.2% and in the US the percentage fell by about 1%.
If in the case of Mercedes, the increase was due to a limousine, the good numbers concluded by the Germans from BMW are mainly due to people's high interest for SUVs.

Audi registered the smallest increase of the 3 companies, only 2.3% and 149,000 units, respectively. Even if on the Chinese market, the Ingolstadt manufacturer was successful, with an increase of 10%, the UK market was the biggest problem because of the declining sales by 10%.
Regarding the overall list, Mercedes is the undisputed leader of the premium segment after sales reached 1.17 million units, 12% more than in the first half of last year.

BMW holds the second places with 1.13 million vehicles sold, achieving a 6% increase, while the Germans from Audi reach the 3rd position with 1.1 million units, up 5.2% increase.
