Seat Working on an Estate in the Leon Lineup
|   Wednesday, July 31, 2013
Seat has added a new estate to its already varied lineup of vehicles, which will also be the very first estate from Seat. The Leon ST will make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September and is the third model in the Leon lineup apart from the three and five door variants. These three models further enhance the way the Leon sits in its range and how people look at it.

The seat is slowly gaining popularity across the world and its varied range of automobile options is definitely helping people make a choice.
Seat wants to place the Leon ST not more than £1000 above the five door version of the car although the previous two vehicles are part of the old Leon lineup. The ST and the five door hatchback share the same platform, although the boot space of the ST is 587 liters while the rear overhangs have been made longer.

The Leon ST sports a double floored boot while the rear seats can be folded easily to increase the total boot space of the car. The 1.6 liter TDI engine displaces 108 BHP while emitting just 88 g/km of CO2 along with general fuel efficiency of 85.6 MPG. This is by far the most frugal engine option in the segment and is powering both the three and five door versions of the Leon.

Seat is planning on offering the adaptive dampers on the Leon ST along with the advanced Dynamic Chassis Control. These features together make sure that the ST has a very advanced ride dynamics and control. Although the car is not as refined as any higher priced vehicle, it does the job and its efficiency figures are truly inspiring.

The Leon uses one of the smallest engines in the segment efficiently to churn out sufficient power to propel the vehicle forward. The C Segment is one of the most profitable in the area and a total of 520,000 C Segment vehicles were sold in the past fiscal. Seat plans on manufacturing fast, efficient and good looking cars and although their vehicles so far have been efficient and decent looking, they are not fast enough for the performance lovers.

However, with the Leon ST, Seat will definitely add a new group to its favorites. This car is quite comfortable and sporty considering the fact that Seat has worked extra hard on dynamics, it sure looks set to capture the market. People want practicality and style from their vehicles and the ST has both. It is a large and practical vehicle with the dynamics and drive style of a hatchback.

Although an on road test could not be performed at the moment due to the unavailability of a prototype, Seat claims that the Leon ST provides all the pleasure of driving that people could look for in an estate. However, this claim still needs to be tested on road before we can preach the same. Overall, this is quite the generalized estate.
