Seat ready to showcase the Leon Cupra at the Geneva Motor Show 2013
|   Thursday, November 15, 2012
Seat plans to launch the all new Leon Cupra by the beginning of 2014, a company source has revealed. Seat will also be launching a super cheap version of the Leon which is set to emit just 89 g/km of Co2. The Cupra lineup is set to be a combination of the best designing aspects of all the three platforms on which the Leon is based, namely ST Estate and the SC five and three door models.

The three door model will be the first to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 which will be followed up by a five door version.
The five door version of the Cupra will be launched exclusively for the developing markets and as a result the vehicle holds a great potential to do well in the currently emerging world economies. The low running and maintenance costs of the Cupra will also help the cause.

The exterior designing of the Seat Leon Cupra has been completed and from the very first glimpse the vehicle looks gorgeous. The customers can look forward to standard 16 inch sports alloys on the rims along with lowered body height as compared to the Leon along with different chrome settings for the front grille. The interior is also set to receive some minor changes however the details are not out as of yet.

The Seat Leon Cupra R is the higher end sports version of the vehicle which is set to be powered by a 2.0 liter turbo charged engine displacing 261 BHP. The standard model is quite powerful though although it cannot be compared to any sports vehicles in the lineup. The Cupra is aimed at a more sober crowd unlike the Leon which is targeted at the youth. The weight distribution on the Cupra is close to perfection and as a result the vehicle does not pose any transmission or power development problems.

Power to weigh ratio is also perfect for a vehicle if the Cupra's stature and hence there is no doubting the capability of the engineers who have designed the vehicle. Moreover the extremely light weight chassis and engine blocks on the Cupra work towards the benefit of performance enhancement of the Cupra. The chassis is formed of hot alloyed steel which is stronger, more durable and lighter than standard aluminum.

A proto type of the Seat Leon Cupra has been launched months back and it was given out for testing purposes. On testing initially, the Cupra was pretty comfortable to ride and the handling was better than average. However, the vehicle does suffer from minor issues related to under steer and power production could have been improved. Nonetheless these do not pose a real threat to sales.

The vehicles in the Cupra lineup do not feature distinct exterior modifications. Overall the vehicles all look the same apart from a few minor modifications which can be pointed out on the first glimpse. Seat has a lot of potential offerings for the people in the coming months and this decade will see a lot of vehicles from Seat launching successfully.
