Seat Plans to Reveal Next Generation Cupra This Week
|   Thursday, January 09, 2014
Seat's new Leon Cupra 280, is slated to be the company's most powerful production vehicle ever. Seat has established a stable customer base in various global markets and plan on offering performance products to cater to a different customer base. The Spanish car maker has had a successful stint across Europe so far, while planning on expansion. A range of new engines have been introduced to power Seat's new lineup.

A 2.0 liter turbo charged petrol engine, displacing 276 BHP, powers both the three and five-door Cupra SC.
Seat has also announced a slightly less powerful Cupra SC, priced below £25,690, although a standard variant should be priced close to £26,940. The Cupra 280 has a range of smart features, with major aerodynamic and mechanical changes. A six speed automated transmission system is mated to its drive train.

Acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH is possible well under 5.7 seconds, while Seat claims a top speed of 155 MPH. The SC Cupra accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH within 5.9 seconds. Peak torque of 258 ft lb of torque is achieved between 1750 RPM and 5300 RPM, while these vehicles displace 261 and 276 BHP respectively. Seat is finally moving in the positive direction with performance and we expect high standard vehicles to enter their current lineup soon.

This vehicle however features front when drive with a mechanical locking differential. MacPherson front and rear strut suspension has been used and this enhances drive dynamics. Electronic stability control and DCC Chassis Control have been added to enhance stability and high speed cornering. This vehicle is 55 kg lighter than its predecessor while dynamic changes have been made to its exterior.

Ride height is lowered while the base is wider, to provide additional traction while 19 inch sports rims have been provided as standard. Seat says both vehicles return close to 44.1 MPG, although it needs to be tested on road. Average CO2 emission is close to 149 g/km, which means this vehicle is not qualified to benefit from tax reductions.

Initial reports about this vehicle are quite positive and have created ripples around global markets. We are looking at a very successful launch. Final reports will be provided, after Seat officially launches this vehicle next week. Early enquiries and pre bookings will be available at the venue, while sales should pick up by year end. A range of high end features, coupled with refinement and comfort, make this vehicle highly desirable and if you are looking for a performance vehicle within a budget, this is the car to go with.

It is smooth on urban as well as freeway conditions, although heading off road is not recommended. Seat's latest Leon is miles ahead of its predecessor are terms of refinement and performance. Areas such as luxury and trim level have improved, while we expect Seat to create a new segment for itself across major international markets. We are yet unaware of targeted markets, although Europe and America seem to be the primary targets for launch.
