Seat Mii Proves to be a Potential Urban Hatchback
|   Thursday, June 27, 2013
The Seat Mii is a compact three door hatch back recently unveiled by the company in a race to claim the top spot for the best urban vehicle. The Mii is similar to the Volkswagen Up and is also known sold as the Skoda Citigo in some parts of the world. These three vehicles feature similar engine and mechanical specifications, chassis and dimension and can be distinguished only upon close inspection.

The front end designs of the vehicles are different, which includes the grille, head lamp while rear section modifications have also been kept into account.
The Seat Mii takes the old route taken by the Seat Arosa back in the 90s. The Arosa sold between 1997 and 2005 and was a top draw for the European customers. Seat sold close to 19,500 vehicles within this period and expects a rerun of its glory days.

Seat is currently offering five distinct trim levels on the Mii while the SE will currently be at the top of the pack. The SE features electric front windows, air conditioning as well as a height adjustable head rest. However the Mii sports the City Safety Assist Technology which automatically applied the brakes when the car senses an imminent accident.

The Convenience pack is also a welcome addition to this vehicle and features collision detection and avoiding system as well. Rear parking sensors and a trip computer has been added to the ride as well and these enhance the way the vehicle operates. The Sports vehicle however features a stronger chassis with tinted windows and these distinguish the standard from the sports. The Seat Mii is powered by two 1.0 liter petrol engine variants displacing either 59 BHP or 75 BHP.

The engines are mated to a five speed manual transmission system while an automatic option is also available on the top of the range SE trim. The Seat Mii is available in both three and five door variants and the 999 cc displacing motor is highly capable of handling the performance aspects expected from this machine. The engine however has limited performance although it is very smooth at high RPMs the Mii suffers from lack of power at low level RPMs.

Acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH is possible within 12.7 seconds and the Mii can cruise to three digit speeds. The top speed is however not very impressive and this is the reason the vehicles seem to be quite downgraded in the European market. The steering column on the Mii is light weight and responsive and is easy to drive within the city perimeters.

The small chassis makes it easy to be driven within the boundaries of the city although highway cruising can turn out to be problematic due to the lack of thrust and power. The manual transmission system is also a welcome addition and enhances the way this car operates. The range topping machines of this segment are the Fiat 500 and the Mini Cooper and the Seat Mii tries to achieve the basic ergonomics set up by these machines.
