Seat Leon ST Receives All-Terrain Version
|   Saturday, June 28, 2014
The Seat Leon X-perience is the first Spanish incursion into a popular segment thanks to its crossover hints. Until the arrival of the first true Seat SUV, the new Leon X-perience will be the most versatile model of the Iberian house, with all wheel drive being standard in all versions.

It will be officially launched this fall at the Paris Motor Show, but brand representatives have already revealed key information about the new version.

We're talking about a ground clearance raised by 15 mm compared to the standard, 17 inch alloy rims included in the standard equipment, a set of ornaments for the side skirts, together with mixed finished Alcantara leather for the interior.
The versions with less than top of the line equipment receive an interior with textile upholstery.

Whichever version you choose, the all-wheel drive is standard and there are three available engines: 1.8 TSI with 180 hp, 1.6 TDI with 110 hp, and 2.0 TDI with 150 hp. All are offered as standard equipment with a manual gearbox with six steps, but can also be ordered with a DSG transmission.

The list of specific elements on this model includes special alloy wheels, a bespoke design offered with 18 inches in diameter. Roof bars on the ceiling have a black finish, and the Alcantara leather interior is brown and has orange stitching.

Despite the fact that the model presented has a panoramic glass roof, this equipment will be found on the options list for the Leon X-perience version. As in the case of the Octavia Scout, the Leon X-perience comes with special ornaments, like those dedicated for wheels which also come in specific colors.

The third generation Leon shares the modular MQB platform of Volkswagen with the new Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf, and Skoda Octavia. This allows for more space and light weight, along with reduced costs by reducing the number of parts that should otherwise be developed along with a new model.

Leon is the first model in the compact segment which has full-LED headlights. While most versions are equipped with a semi-rigid rear axle on the upper level equipment, on this model we find a multi-link rear suspension.

Folks at Seat wanted to offer the Leon X-perience model with a wide range of standard features right off the bat. Thus, the Drive Profile function, as it's called by Seat, will be found both on the models that run on gasoline as well as on top diesel models.

This function allows the driver to alternate the features of the electro-mechanical steering, accelerator mapping and the shift points of the dual-clutch gearbox in three modes: eco, comfort and sport. Also, it includes an actuator sound to improve the sound quality of the engines.

After the public premiere at the Paris auto show, when sales will start the prices expected to be about 1500 euro higher compared with the usual Seat Leon ST.
