Seat Leon SC 1.2 TSI is a Direct Competitor to the Volkswagen Golf
|   Thursday, August 08, 2013
Seat Leon SC is much more than just a simple three door version of the Leon, it is a sports coupe. The vehicle has undergone huge styling changes on the exterior, even though most of the changes are quite subtle. The three door version is also 35 mm closer to the ground than its five door counterpart. Seat is offering a range of five different engines on the car, while the most important of the lot is the 1.2 liter petrol TSI engine.

1.6 liter, 1.
liter and 2.0 liter engine options are also available on the lot although Seat is also offering 1.8 liter and 2.0 liter diesel options on their vehicles. The engines displace 147 BHP or 181 BHP depending upon the tune, although a 1.2 liter TSI engine displacing 104 BHP is the most popular on the cards.

Seat is known for its engineering prowess and the latest three seated Leon proves the company's worth when it comes to easy German engineering. Seat provides a complete drive experience. Even though the engine feels underpowered, the car performs well within the city speed limits. The 129 ft lb of torque displaced by the engine is quite helpful in navigating the vehicle through traffic.

The small wheel base of the car also helps. Every engine option is mated to a six speed manual transmission system while an automatic seven speed DSG transmission system is also available on the cards. The manual gear box is refined and vibration free and ensures that the ride comfort remains intact. The gear ratios are well spaced and this ensures easy movement of the vehicle without vibrations.

The short shifts feel good in traffic although it may wear out the driver on long stretches of empty asphalt. A range of electronic assistance measures have been installed in the vehicle and they ensure that the general handling feels explicit. The Leon is one of the best handling cars in its class and the advanced steering column placement has a lot to offer. The interior has been enhanced while the new trim settings enhance the way the car feels.
Satellite navigation along with an advanced infotainment measure has been added to the car while cruise control ensures that the ride quality remains crisp. Seat plans on making this vehicle a direct rival to the Volkswagen Golf although this should be quite a challenging task considering the fact that the Golf is a class leader. Priced at £16,635, The Seat Leon SC 1.2 TSI is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 10.2 seconds while sporting a top speed of 119 MPH.

Seat expects high fuel efficiency from this vehicle and the figures are close to 57.6 MPG. The Leon has its own impeding character which suits the general class the vehicle sits in. Seat has done a variety of modifications to make this car suitable for urban use and the hard work has paid off. The car is currently available at showrooms across the globe.
