Seat launches the all new Leon 1.2 S
|   Wednesday, December 12, 2012
The all new Seat Leon 1.2 S might be the cheapest model in its price range, however it has been priced competitively in the market and that gives it a greater appeal over its competitors. The vehicle reaches 60 MPH in close to 10 seconds and although this may seem to be out of proportion, it is a decent figure considering the price range at which it is available. With an average fuel economy of 57.6 MPG, the Leon 1.2 S costs merely 15,670 Pounds.

Although the vehicle is larger than its predecessor, the Leon 1.
S is lighter by close to 90 kg, is more aerodynamic, sports a bigger boot space and features more interior space too apart from being the better looking cousin. The overall feel of the vehicle has also been increased and the quality of materials used is high. However, the vehicle is done up in monochrome and that gives it a very dead beat look.

The SE trim also features similar problems and if this can be dealt with, the Leon 1.2 S is an overall perfect vehicle. These problems however make any difference once you realize that all models of the Seat Leon 1.2 S – even the absolutely base model – features air condition, Bluetooth, a seven inch touch screen, remote control adapters and seven air bags for driver and passenger safety, as standard. Seat has also provided the option of alloy wheels on special request, on an extra payment of course.

The Leon 1.2 S is a highly stable vehicle and although it is based on torsion beam axle and produces less than 150 BHP, the vehicle is rid of its stability issue plaguing previous models. The advanced suspension system also absorbs shock better than its predecessor and going into corners with the 1.2 S instills more confidence into the driver. The steering is quite hard and accuracy is standard. The perfect power to weight ratio of the vehicle further helps enhance performance and overall the Leon 1.2 S is great value for money.

The 1.2 liter turbo engine used on the previous generation of the Leon is out of production and this has made way for the new 1.2 S. The vehicle is more advanced, efficient and safe and is a better bet than its predecessor in every way. Seat has been developing the Leon 1.2 S for quite some time now and the engineers had taken into consideration the reviews sent by the customers and their feedback was given due importance.

The final product is outstanding and provides complete value for money. With a total weight of 1198 kg, the light weight car is more economical and easier to control. Featuring a six speed manual transmission system, the vehicle is quite responsive and fun to drive. Torque formation in lower gears help increase throttle responsiveness and this increases the peppiness of the engine. Although presence of under steer can be felt at some quarters, the vehicle is not excessively hard to control and this is the best part about the Leon 1.2 S.
