Rolls Royce Creates a Masterpiece with its Latest Phantom
|   Tuesday, December 17, 2013
Rolls Royce was never the most practical vehicle we have around us. Rolls need to showcase some very important features and skills to be back in that segment. However, the British car makers have stopped calling themselves practical car makers five decades back. BMW is somewhat in the same segment although they believe in practicality as well as luxury.

Rolls Royce first came up with the Phantom back in 2003, although this vehicle received its first major facelift back in 2012.
It is based on an al aluminum space frame technology chassis, which in turn helps it maintain lightness and stiffness. It is powered by a 6.75 liter direct fuel injected engine sporting 48 valves and a 60 degree V12 engine.

This engine is capable of displacing 453 BHP along with 531 ft lb of torque while maximum power goes to its rear wheels. Its engine is mated to an eight speed automated transmission system while its drive train is completely modernized. Even though it may seem like a classic vehicle in terms of exterior appeal, this vehicle is up to date in every form possible.

Some of its exterior modifications include LED lights, new bumpers and alloyed wheels along with a slew of other minor body work. These were conducted during its latest upgrade back in 2012 while ensuring Rolls Royce a long stand in current market conditions. This car is every bit the luxury you deserve for its price tag.

Even though its switchgear is pretty basic, it feels posh while complete refinement is guaranteed. Rolls Royce finds actual rivalry only in Maybach as other car makers are not up to the task, perfected by Rolls Royce. Rear door hinges lend a classy feel to this vehicle while its construction goes a long way into setting up benchmarks for global luxury vehicle producing companies.

Rolls Royce is known for manufacturing some of the highly refined engines in the history of car making and its Phantom is no different. This vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 5.8 seconds and 0 – 100 MPH within 14.7 seconds. This vehicle is in reality quicker than Porsche's Boxter, with a lot of luxury thrown in between. Mechanical refinement is superb and even when the throttle is floored; this vehicle shows no signs of stress. Handling this vehicle however is a lot less challenging on high speeds as expected.

It is not however uncommon for a vehicle weighing as much as the Phantom to handle poorly, even if it is unique in a way. Rolls Royce has been focusing on the needs of American, European and Chinese customers equally while designing its latest brand of vehicles and this has led to the company diversifying and spreading out into new dimensions. It is a good experience for us as we are witnessing a new breed of vehicles from the house of Rolls. Stay tuned for latest updates and drive test reviews as we will e bringing them to you quite soon.
