Rimac Concept One - The Electric Supercar Goes Into Production
|   Wednesday, March 16, 2016
In an automotive world full of restrictions imposed by environmental regulations probably the super cars have suffered the most. This happened because these models are mostly inefficient and emit more pollutants and CO2 into the atmosphere than regular cars. Different car manufacturers have tried to get out of this situation by hybrid propulsion creating such models like the LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Koenigsegg Regera. Audi's engineers were working for years on a R8 fully electric version, called R8 e-tron, but it is not produced in batches.
Instead, the Rimac Concept One is!

The super-car from Croatia, which appeared in 2011 as a concept, is finally ready for production and the final version will debut at Geneva Motor Show.

The Rimac Concept One production version (also styled Concept_One) is distinguished by conventional mirrors, slightly modified front lights, and a more aggressive rear air diffuser. The interior received more radical changes. Thus, carbon fiber inserts have appeared, the center console was modified and control buttons made of aluminum also popped up. However, the technical substrate did not suffer much change. The new Rimac Concept One has four electric motors (one per wheel) that develop a total output of 1,088 horsepower and a giant torque of 1,600 Nm.

The batteries have a capacity of 82 kW and a power of 1,000 kW, or one megawatt, for intense acceleration!
The Rimac Concept One accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h (0 at the 96 mph) in 2.6 seconds, reaches 200 km / h it reaches 6.2 seconds, and up to 300 km / h in 14.2 seconds, while top speed it is 355 km / h. Performance wise this is a true hyper-car.

In the construction of the Concept One an aluminum frame and outer panels made from carbon fiber were used. However, its weight is not low at all, amounting to 1,850 kg.

The Electric super-car is equipped with a carbon ceramic braking system that will be used extremely rare, because the electric motors can stop the car by using regenerative braking, which generates a braking power of 400 kW and a deceleration of 0.6 G.

The electric super sports car has four driving modes, including one for circuit (Track) and even a regime called Drift. The Concept One has the Rimac All Wheel Torque Vectoring system (R-AWTV) too, which redistributes torque to each wheel individually, depending on the situation. Interestingly, there is also another fact - each electric motor has one gearbox, so four gearboxes in total. The front ones have one step each, and the back has dual clutch with two steps.

However, the most important thing is that the workers at Rimac Automobili created practically all the components of the super-car in their own factory, without receiving any components from other suppliers.
According to statistics, Rimac Automobili is a first in the automotive industry from this point of view!

Initially, it was planned to build 88 copies of the electric super car, and now the Rimac Automobili announces it will create only 8 copies whose price will be 800,000 euros - an appropriate price for the fastest electric supercar in the world.
