Reviewing the Mercedes Benz V250 BlueTec Avantgarde
|   Monday, April 14, 2014
With the V Class, Mercedes Benz tries to appeal to a completely different class of people, whose primary focus is carrying or transporting a large number of people together. This however is completely different from public transportation as Mercedes Benz has its line of busses as well. The V Class has its share of vans that have been specifically modified for luxury and comfort.

The interior has sufficient space, at par with other commercial vehicles in class.
However, what this vehicle has in excess is comfort and luxury aspects that are missing in most other vans in class. Commercial vehicles are not usually a part of a luxury car maker's lineup. For example Audi, BMW, Bentley, Aston Martin etc, does not have any such vehicles on offer. This precisely sets Mercedes Benz apart from the rest.

Despite its boxy shape, the V Class is surprisingly aerodynamic, sporting a drag coefficient, as low as 0.31. Its slippery shape plays a major role in this too, while engineering aspects have been inspired by their S Class and C Class vehicles too. A turbocharged 2.1 liter diesel engine, lifted off many of its other passenger vehicles also help, while its price tag is equally satisfying.

Entry level prices start at £40,000, while its higher trim levels can set you back by a few thousand quid. This vehicle shares its CV underpinnings with the likes of Ford's Tourneo and transit. The cabin is highly refined although, with soft materials used for fit and finish. The V Class has a set of other latest technology that has been used to incorporate the advanced Command interactive software.

Some of the additional features on this vehicle include parking assistance, rear cameras and sensors, self paring system, automated transmission, etc. Throttle response is quite as vivid as braking and transmission, while steering and handling is effective too. Use of better grade materials on its interior is of utmost importance too, while stress has been laid on material usage and refinement, in order to distinguish itself from other vans in class.

A split open tailgate makes it easier to load materials on to its rear boot space, which is also quite large, in order to accommodate large quantities of articles effortlessly. You can also opt to get the rear seats removed in order to carry luggage only. However, a Mercedes Benz van is usually used to transport people in comfort. Powered by a turbocharged diesel powered V6 engine block, this vehicle is quite the performance addict.

Additional power boost of 13 BHP and 33 ft lb is provided, although steering adjustments could be improved. Hyundai's i800 and Ford Tourneo are in class and this should spice things up in the market a bit. Final pricing is yet to be announced, while acceleration form 0 – 60 MPH is possible under 9.1 seconds. Insiders have hinted at a top speed of 128 MPH, with fuel efficiency of 47 MPG, along with CO2 emissions of 157 g/km. Stay tuned for more.
