Reviewing the Best Cars of 2013: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta
|   Thursday, January 02, 2014
With 2013 almost coming to an end, we review a few greats of the year in our list of top cars of 2013 and the Ferrari's F12 Berlinetta surely finds a place on this list. This vehicle asks for a driver's skill and trust, if you provide these, the Berlinetta functions like a refined machine. Like all Ferraris, this vehicle has an uncanny yet magnetic feel about it.

However, unlike the smaller 458, you do not want to stick around or touch this vehicle unnecessarily.
This vehicle is a real bad boy and Ferrari has taken certain steps to ensure it needs a lot more driver focus than its other cousins. Berlinetta's 6.0 liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine is its real deal and Aston Martin and Lamborghini are the only two companies capable of competing with it.

With 731 BHP at peak levels of 8250 RPM and 509 ft lb of torque neat 6000 RPM, it is 750 RPM short of the Vantage's peak power production. Ferraris were initially known for their power train, so much so, that people said if you paid for a Ferrari engine, the company would throw you a free car. Modern day vehicles however are nothing short of being luxury.

The Berlinetta is capable of hitting top speeds of 211 MPH while accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.0 seconds and 0 – 100 MPH within 6.5 seconds. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the only benchmark setting vehicle in this class. The quality of a Berlinetta is unmatched, even by Ferrari standards. This vehicle is a mood enhancer and is the perfect remedy for a dull day.

Ferrari has crammed up much power into this vehicle, so much so, that it can be driven sideways pretty easily. Wheel spin is common if the electronic drive aids are removed. A range of high end electronics keeps its performance parameters in check and monitors the vehicle at all times. Immense response and aggressive nature of this car makes it fun to drive both on track and open roads.

This vehicle is easy to control both during high and low RPMs and this is a major reason why it can be driven around urban terrains as well. Various performance twists have been given to this vehicle which makes it a performance coupe. Reduction in weight is a primary factor in use which ensures a healthy power to weight ratio. Various drive modes help drivers adjust settings according to the terrain or need and this plays well with the general ergonomics of this vehicle.

If you are a reckless driver, you must take a drive in the Berlinetta. However, you break it, you buy it, so try and be a little careful and reckless at the same time and you should be fine. Swift and agile, the Berlinetta handles like a dream come true. Traction control keeps this car on track while advanced tires provide the adequate grip that we need. It induces confidence while driving and ensures proper appeal.
