Reviewing the Audi S1's Street Performance
|   Wednesday, March 19, 2014
Audi first disclosed plans to launch the S1 back in 2010, during the launch of their A1. No significant reports came in post this announcement, although it was slated to be a rival to Mini's Cooper S. Audi has finally come up with a classy four by four Super Mini, which keeps our expectations alive. Their left hand drive A1 Quattro was a fast car, even though this is expected to be a better vehicle in all aspects.

Audi's A1 Quattro is an actually inspiration behind their S1 and much of both vehicles are similar.
Audi has put in special effort behind their rear multi plate electro mechanical clutch suspension. The A1's entire rear section had to be remodeled to make this structure fit, although it has been worth this transformation. Street driving is poised and well balanced, which makes it a treat to be behind its wheels.

Audi has made complete use of modern technology while designing this vehicle. This makes their latest variant completely fool proof. Car enthusiasts will find a special liking for this vehicle without any doubts. Good looks are not its only positive point, as mechanical power is of equal importance. Unique exterior styling cues have been added to this vehicle to give it a masculine appeal, while buyers are at liberty to choose from three different styling options.

Both three and five door models are on offer, with a range of color combinations. Powered by a turbo charged 2.0 liter direct fuel injected petrol engine, this vehicle develops 228 BHP along with 272 ft lb of torque. These figures make the S1 more powerful than its cousin by 46 BHP and 88 ft lb of torque. Experts however deem their smaller 1.4 liter TFSI engine to gain more popularity across global mass markets.

This vehicle is fun, on the edge and easy to drive. This is a rare and peppy combination, which allows greater driving pleasure. A sporty exhaust note is also taken into consideration while measuring its fun factor and drive ability. Cornering is quite easy as this vehicle induces confidence into the driver, with its precise handling.

Audi is known for its superior engineering prowess and this vehicle seems to have been born with the best of every field. This is an all wheel drive vehicle, while power allotment to both wheels, can be adjusted. A dual stage Electronic Stability Control System has been added for greater effectiveness, while official figures claim that acceleration from 0 – 60 is possible within 5.9 seconds. This is a decent figure for a vehicle of this stature.

Audi has fine tuned its chassis for added stability, which is powerful enough to handle this heat. Heavy work has been put into its electro mechanical steering component, which in turn provides ultimate drive satisfaction. Priced at £25,630, this vehicle has a top speed of 155 MPH while returning close to 39.8 MPG. If you are looking for a fuel efficient vehicle that is also able to move fast, go for the Audi S1.
