Reviewing the 2015 Chrysler 200 Saloon
|   Saturday, March 29, 2014
Chrysler has come a long way since its initial products hit global markets and this is evident in the way they designed their 2015 200. This is a rock solid vehicle, designed exclusively for taking on stiff market competition from rivals, spread across the family market sedan segment. Chrysler makes a fresh start with this vehicle, as most of the components used in it are new. There are no controversial design elements on its exterior, while fluidic design has been adapted, for better aerodynamics and visual aesthetics.

A bold new exterior design gives the 200, a masculine look and feel. While buyers are attracted by the detailed trim levels laid out by Chrysler. Interior upgrades were announced, although we did know what to expect as Chrysler had not revealed teaser images or videos. Various Limited Edition models have been available in the past too, although their latest attraction is the modified 200C.

Chrysler has announced price tags for various models, although engine specifications are its actual attraction. The cabin has been highly modified, with attention paid to every minor detail. This ensures better quality and refinement. Cup holders and interior trim, at par with those provided by Audi, are in place. Stitches have been used extensively at places, while an automated transmission system refines the complete drive experience.

However, fit and finish has a certain American level of refinement, which is quite different from any European design. Sound proofing measures are provided in abundance, which keeps the outer environment at bay. Revving up the engine has a smooth yet loud note, while the car keeps begging to be pushed hard. Over first impression of this vehicle was quite impressive and this vehicle fails to disappoint.

Powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine block displacing 295 BHP, this vehicle is capable of returning close to 35 MPG on the freeway. Even though you will feel a certain lack in power at certain RPM levels, this six cylinder model does not feel as thrifty as a six cylindered sports car, due to the obvious weight enhancements. A front wheel drive 2.4 liter engine is also available, which is expected to be more popular than its higher placed cousin, due to fuel efficiency and environment friendliness.

This vehicle sounds quite like Maserati's latest Ghibli saloon that we drove a few months back. All wheel drive is available on certain models, although Chrysler has the same transmission setup on every vehicle. Minor engineering and software upgrades have been made to ensure reduction in harshness, while competitors in class range from Toyota's Camry to Honda's Accord.

Ford has made some serious upgrades on all their vehicles, which makes the 2015 Chrysler 200 a must buy, if you can afford it. This is a serious threat to reputed brands in the mid class family saloon segment, which is also set to spice things up across global markets. We are not sure of Chrysler's target markets at this moment and will get back to you with details shortly.
