Renault Showcases the Twin Run Concept at the Monaco GP
|   Wednesday, May 29, 2013
The Renault Twin Run Concept is an extreme design which has been inspired completely by extreme forms of Motorsports. The Twin Run Concept has been unveiled at the Monaco GP and more pictures of what this vehicle looks like will be unveiled shortly. This two seated vehicle is a smaller version of the electric Twin Z but major differences follow both vehicles.

While the Twin Z was an urban commuter, the Twin Run Concept draws much needed inspiration from the Clio V6 and the Renault 5 Turbo.
With a top speed of 155 MPH, the Twin Run is a fast hatchback and is powered by a 3.5 liter turbo charged V6 engine displacing 316 BHP @ 6800 RPM along with 280 ft lb of torque @ 4850 RPM. This engine has been lifted directly off the Megane and displaces a total of 3498 cc.

The engine is also mated to a six speed SADEV transmission system with a limited slip differential and sequential gearbox. 0 – 60 MPH is possible within 4.5 seconds and this proves just how menacing this car is. The tubular chassis of this vehicle keeps its weight down to a minimum 950 kg which makes this vehicle incredibly light weight. Power to weight ratio without doubt is quite high.

Carbon fiber roof, rear vents, front splitter and the wheel arches enhance the down force of the vehicle and this keeps it pinned down to the surface of the road. This is a very important aspect of any sports car as it is most vulnerable at corners. The Twin Run Concept is however expected to be quite stable around corners.

This car is expected to come out in a three door version whereas a five door version could be out quite soon although no confirmation has come in officially. The cabin represents a stripped out sports cabin and this has been accompanied by Recaro sports seats. Suicide doors are also available as an option and the interior has been done up in black to enhance the sports look and feel of the vehicle.

The cabin space is moderate if not large and the hand brake and gear lever are mounted close together to make it easier for the driver to gain control of the vehicle. Clutch, fuel and oil pressure gauges are present on the dash board and this gives the instrument cluster a sport feel. The vehicle is well organized and the interior reflects the smart engineering and design work at Renault.

Some of the added features on this vehicle include a 5.5 inch touch screen device controlling most of the entertainment features of the car. The Twin Run Concept has managed to draw a lot of attention to its design and this gives the vehicle to priority when it launches. Although this is a practical ride, Renault is yet to confirm its final say on production. This vehicle seems to be a hot proposition in the moment and no doubt is in the center of debate.
