Renault showcases the Clio RS at the Detroit Motor Show
|   Saturday, January 12, 2013
The Detroit Auto Show 2013 has seen a lot of hot hatch launches and so far this is set to be the main attraction of the event. The first vehicle to be showcased at the event is the Renault Clio RS 200 Turbo. This vehicle has set up a benchmark of what performance hatchback vehicles are supposed to be and the previous generation of the Clio actually failed to woo the performance freaks when it came to power.

Renault plans on making up for it with the launch of the RS.
The seismic waves prior to the launch of the event have managed to score so high due to the performance backing that the Clio RS has received. On paper however this is not a very good thing primarily as the 2.0 liter engine has been replaced and hence 7500 RPM has vanished along with it.

The six speed manual transmission system has also been replaced with an automatic gearbox hence performance is affected. The third generation Clio however comes in a five door model only and this is the only downside that people can point about this vehicle. The forced induction transmission system works well with the all new 1.6 liter turbo charged motor.

The engine displaces 197 BHP along with 19 ft lbs of torque @ 1750 RPM. On an average 0 – 60 MPH takes about 6.9 seconds and the engine has been mated to the Renault Sport Efficient Dual Clutch transmission system. This is a performance hatchback that is good to handle even in city traffic. The chassis has been made 15 percent stiffer and the ride height has been lowered to improve traction and road grip.

Renault has also established the news that the Cup chassis formation will also be available to people who want opt for it. The brakes are also bigger and this makes the vehicle stop in time hence making the Clio RS safer than before. It is expected that a more powerful version of the Clio will be out for sale shortly as Renault has already come up with the concept of an honest hot hatch.

People are already quite interested in the way the Clio RS seems to be and the vehicle has received market hype even before being officially launched. The first images have just been launched and the first view will be possible only at the Detroit Auto Show. Renault could however have used a more powerful engine on the RS to extract performance rather than tuning a small engine to extract optimum performance.

The new exterior and interior ergonomics is also a positive aspect of the Clio RS and Renault has made the new exterior in a very aggressive tone. The interior is designed to correspond to the exterior of the vehicle and the general ergonomics of this vehicle seems complete. Renault devotees will love this car and it is about time Renault has successfully designed a vehicle with the perfect balance between sports and efficiency for the masses.
