Renault planning to launch the redesigned Clio Williams
|   Friday, October 12, 2012
Renault is planning a new model of the Clio Williams and the model is expected to go on sales in 2014. The vehicle is currently in the designing stages and the vehicle will be powered using Renault's Formula One technology.

The Clio Williams is set to be a transformation of the Formula One technology into race car design and the result is set to be simply outstanding. Company sources have claimed that the new Clio Williams is set to be a faster vehicle than the current road version, the Clio Renault Sport 200 Turbo.

Renault has not officially confirmed the status of the Clio Williams and it is assumed that the vehicle is under construction. There is another 18 months wait for the car to be officially revealed and this has been done to avoid a clash with the recently launched Renault Sport.

Renault has ventured into unknown territories in the recent past and the vehicle has also been developing fuel efficient technologies together with Jaguar Land Rover, the end result of which is the C X 75 super car. This time Renault is in a partnership with Williams for the Clio Williams.

However, the involvement of William in the Clio's exterior designing is currently not clear and Renault is planning to just use the engines to keep the bill in check. The Clio Williams was the first vehicle to showcase the prospect of using diamond like CAM shafts on the vehicle and steering wheel mounted gear shift pedals.

This however results in reduced fuel efficiency and performance and the success of the first generation Clio Williams was awe inspiring. According to the original estimates, the Clio Williams was expected to sell around 3,800 units which later had to be increased to 11,200 units.

Renault has been experimenting with their vehicles quite a lot since the past few years and this has resulted in the formation of a range of new vehicles that are based on Formula One technology.

Renault is looking forward to the launch of the Clio Williams to take on competition from Peugeot which has just launched the 208 GTI at the Paris International Motor Show 2012. The Clio Williams is set to be powered by a 2.0 liter turbo charged petrol engine, similar to that featured on the 208 GTI and this vehicle is set to produce close to 220 BHP. AN extra control functional switch could be accessible on the Williams and the power train features are set to be exciting and spice up the feel of the vehicle.

The current Clio Renault Sport has special engine mapping and different power train modes that make driving the vehicle a breeze apart from enhancing performance. Throttle response and steering have improved and the Renault Sport is an all new vehicle.

The aerodynamics of the Clio Williams has been done explicitly and this is the reason for the expected enhancement of the vehicle. Detailed engine specifications have not been announced and there is some time left for the company to officially announce the details of the vehicle.
