Renault Kadjar - Official Pictures And Information With The Qashqai's French Brother
|   Monday, February 16, 2015
Renault has unveiled the new Kadjar, its proposal for the compact SUV segment. The model will be available starting this summer and will benefit from advanced technologies such as front optical blocks with full LED lighting.

The model will be presented to the public next month, when the Geneva Motor Show opens its doors officially.
The French will profit from the growth enjoyed by the SUV segment (in 2014, one in every five new cars sold was an SUV) with a completely new design inspired by the philosophy introduced by Laurens van den Acker, head of Renault's creation department.

Seen primarily as a big brother of the current Capture it was expected that the new Kadjar will borrow the design lines of its younger brother. Also, we should forget the presence of Koleos, its athletic big brother which is still present on the market by the way.

Developed on the common platform CMF (Common Platform Module) of the Renault-Nissan, the new Kadjar shares the ins and outs of perhaps the most popular model of the moment in the C segment SUV, the Nissan Qashqai.

With a length of 4.45 meters, a width of 1.84 meters and a height of 1.6 meters, the new Kadjar borrows design elements from the DeZir concept, combined with a new body color, Flame Red, used specially for the launch.

If the front side looks like a larger scale Renault Captur and adopts the aggressive lamp units with full LED lights, however, the profile is muscular with broad embossments, and benefits from the thresholds found on the glossy Renault Clio. The taillights have a different design and also have LED lights, but are still inspired by the lines seen on the current Clio. The allure of SUV is suggested by plastic protections for underbody, the large rims up to 19 inches and generous ground clearance of 19 centimeters.

The interior is similar to the current Renault models with color board tools and a multimedia system R-Link positioned in the center of the dashboard. It is the same system R-Link installed on the Scenic, equipped with voice recognition applications, connection for telephone and navigation. On the center console we find the electronic parking brake and the wheel which allows selecting between three driving modes: 4x2, Auto or Lock.

In terms of space, the Kadjar will have a luggage compartment of 472 liters of storage and 30 liters in the interior. Also, on the rear seats the car offers a height of 910 mm and 1,456 mm at the shoulders, the highest values in the segment.

The new Renault Kadjar will be offered with the four-wheel drive the Alliance is already famous for. There will be also the basic versions available only with 4x2 traction. In addition the Kadjar promises some off-road escapades, thanks to angles of attack and release of 18 and 25 degrees.

The new Renault Kadjar will be built at the Palencia plant in Spain, which currently exports 83 percent of its production to more than 50 countries on five continents. However, it will not be the only production site. The crossover will become the first Renault built in China. The plant in Wuhan, created with local partner Dongfeng is ready to offer a production of 150,000 cars per year.
