Renault has a host of new models up for launch
|   Monday, November 12, 2012
Renault is all set to bring forth a new exterior design when it launches the new models of the Espace, Laguna and Scenic by the middle of the next decade. The Scenic was showcased at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show as the R Concept and the vehicle was designed by Renault Chief Designer Anthony Lo.

The Scenic is designed to be a family SUV and hence the target audience has been altered since the re launch of the vehicle was planned. The R Space was received whole heartedly at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2011 and Renault was so overwhelmed that the company decided to design the Scenic on the R Space.

The R Space was high on space and technologies and these are the exact qualities that the customers look for in a Renault. The Scenic is also set to get a cousin SUV based on the Nissan Qashqai and the models are expected to be showcased by end 2013. An insider from Renault commented that the designers were looking for a sturdy vehicle which stood between the Laguna and the Megane and had decent off road capabilities. Therefore the redesign of the Scenic was conceived to be the most viable option.

The next generation Laguna is expected to be a four door sedan with more contemporary features and hence possibilities are that the vehicle will be based on the Vauxhall Insignia. Renault needs a D segment vehicle to make a mark in the global segment however; the higher authorities beg to differ.
They claim that a lot can be done with the right vehicle and as a result there are no current plans to launch a D segment Renault. Company executives believe that the Laguna is the perfect car. However, the exterior needs a new cosmetic upgrade to attract the higher middle strata of customers who want their vehicles to say something about their personality.

Many believe this to be the primary reason behind the failure of the last generation Laguna as well. Renault put plans of building the Espace on hold in late 2009 and the company planned an evaluation of the details. The main attraction in the market was found to be family SUVs and as a result the requirements of the people were reevaluated and the vehicles were redesigned.

The European market is always demanding and if car makers have to survive in the tough competition, they need to adapt and innovate. Renault has been doing exactly that since the past two years and the time to showcase the final products is here. Customers have high expectations from any Renault products and as a result the expectations are high.

Most of these vehicles have reached their fourth generation and as a result they have strayed from the original ideas which conceived them. The new ideologies need to be tested and tried in the current market condition and this is what the analysts are waiting to see. The hype generated in the market however gives out a positive aspect to the forthcoming results.
