Renault Brings First Initiale Paris Model In Paris This Fall, Rest To Follow In 2015
|   Tuesday, June 24, 2014
Renault is preparing a premium range made of several models, according to Automotive News citing French brand CFO Dominique Thormann. The first component of the Initiale Paris range will debut at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled this fall and is most likely a high-end version of the Espace, the monocab of the French brand that expects a successor.

This model will have at least two more brothers in the range, which is scheduled for launch in 2015, according to Automotive News.

The reconfirmation of the premium program of Renault was necessary since its primary promoter, Carlos Tavares, left the company to be at the helm of the PSA Peugeot-Citroen rivals. The latter is preparing a premium DS division designed to transform existing premium versions of current models into an independent range with a high profit margin.

Renault will unveil the production version of the first model in the range Initiale Paris in October. The manufacturer's representatives declined to comment on speculation about the type of the car that they will launch, although they presented in Frankfurt a year ago, a premium crossover called Initiale Paris.

Initially, the entire Initiale Paris project was seen as a top equipment version that is offered on certain models in the range, but the company's strategies, led by Tavares, the former number two at Renault-Nissan, decided that a few top versions were not enough to transform the Initiale Paris into a profitable brand.

In 2015, Renault is preparing to launch models in the C and D segments, complementing the Initiale Paris range. Subsequently, the French would launch larger models too, possibly in the E segment, to be sold on the Chinese market, conceived especially for those customer expectations.

The Renault premium range will fight with the"Vignale" from Ford and "DS" from Citroen. The three companies will opt for extra equipment, a special design for the premium range and top service offered to customers who choose these models.

"Initiale Paris it not a stop and go approach. We've been rebuilding a more premium feel in a certain number of limited vehicles, approaching it on technologies and in segments that we control and can understand. You'll get a good example of that in the Paris show in October. We will be adding significantly to our lineup. You should see a significant renewal of bigger cars in the coming year" said Dominique Thormann, the brand's Chief Financial Officer.

By adding extras like leather interiors and more comprehensive service deals, the companies are trying to attract consumers to more luxurious and expensive versions of their basic models.

"The life cycle" design strategy of Renault includes customer experiences as they fall in love (DeZir), discover the world (Captur), found a family (R-Space), work (Frendzy), play (Twin'Run), and attain wisdom (Initiale Paris).

Measuring 4.85 m long, Initiale Paris is a prestige car, inspired by the world of architecture as well as aerospace. And if we look at concepts launched by Renault in recent years, the only thing we cannot accuse them of is a lack of inspiration. But it remains to be seen if the series version will actually score with clients.
