Range Rover Sport expected to arrive by the middle of 2013
|   Wednesday, November 07, 2012
Spy pictures of what is believed to be the second generation Range Rover Sport has been revealed testing in the track and judging by the looks and camouflage of the vehicle, it is unlikely that the vehicle will be available across showrooms prior to mid 2013.

The proto type has just been completed and basic tests are being run on the machine and vehicle will be right behind the Range Rover MK 4, when the vehicle launches next year, in terms of technology, performance, comfort, refinement and built quality.

The car was seen being tested at Sierra Nevada, Spain as well as on the track at Nürburgring. The reduction between the time of successive tests have helped people come to the conclusion that the proto type has been built and extensive tests are being carried out to reaffirm the liabilities of this vehicle is sent to mass production stages.

The vehicle will feature a bonded aluminum and steel chassis and this is just like the chassis of the Sport's cousin, the recently unveiled Range Rover 4. The specifications and minor details will be fixed at the Jaguar Land Rover head quarters in Solihull and the final details will be available post the completion of the decision making process.

The recent shift to aluminum plating from heavy metal T5 has helped the Range Rover Sport lose a few hundred kg and this vehicle should weight around 2000 kg, at par with the Porsche Cayenne.

Range Rover has done its bit to modify the exterior of the Sport and the need to camouflage the proto type for tests is a proof of this fact. The roofline has been inclined by a huge margin and the wind screen has been lowered than the present model and the Sport looks different from a conventional Range Rover.

The sides have new sleek lines and the introduction of the new small windows have given the vehicle an overall smart look. The clamshell of the bonnet is protruded towards the grille and the C pillars of the rear grille arte shorter than that on the Range Rover.

The vehicle is set to be powered by new petrol V6 and the super charged SUV plans to make its market debut in China and the United States of America apart from the United Kingdom. The 3.0 liter turbo charged petrol engine is set to receive more popularity in the British market and the introduction of modern technology apart from the reduction in weight has helped the vehicle set up a high standard for itself.

Combined fuel efficiency figures of the Sport are set to be close to 30 mpg and this is a considerably high figure once you consider the power generated by the engine. Overall, this is great news for people planning to purchase the Sport once it launches and this is great news for Range Rover fans.

Company sources are quite happy about the way the project is being handled and is coming up to be and they expect huge volumes of sale once the car goes on sale.
