Quant 48Volt - Super-electric Sedan Reaches 300 Km/h with 1,000 Km Range

At the Geneva Motor Show, folks from nanoFlowcell bring some impressive novelties. A new interpretation of the Quant electric sedan, called Quant 48Volt will be among them.

On the outside it looks to the similar model Quant F presented at Geneva in 2015, with the exception of the bottom contour doors, painted in contrasting color, but also having a completely revised posterior. The most important changes, however, have been delivered elsewhere.

According to the head of nanoFlowcell, Nunzio La Vecchia, the company found an incredible discovery, which has improved the nanoFlowcell technology due to the direct and variable control of fuel cells, which eliminated the need for heavy and expensive super capacitors. Moreover, the voltage was reduced from 700 volts to 48 volts only, without compromising the outstanding performance!

Therefore, the propulsion system is lighter than it was previously, now with less weight than a pure electric system, or a system of fuel cells that use hydrogen as fuel.
Like the previous model, for the operation of the car the nanoFlowcell system is powered by two ionized liquids, one positively charged and the other negatively charged, which offer an autonomy 25 percent higher than its predecessor, for a total of 1,000 km, after which the electrolyte needs to be changed.

The new super-sedan Quant 48Volt has four low-voltage electric motors, offering a total power of 760 hp. Due to the all-wheel drive and low weight of the propulsion system the Quant 48Volt can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h faster than its predecessor - in just 2.4 seconds (-0.4 sec.)! Top speed is limited to 300 km / h.

Thanks to the innovations implemented, the new propulsion system has become cheaper in production and is virtually ready for series production, being successfully tested in Germany on the compact model Quantino 48Volt.

In terms of safety too, the low voltage system is much safer than a high-voltage system, which in some electric models, reaches up to 800 volts.
Overall, it looks like a technology that seems too good to be true. Hopefully in the future it will revolutionize the automotive world. Finally, you'll need charging stations with ionized liquids and lack of infrastructure could be a huge impediment in the development of this technology.
In the end, in a low-voltage sports car like the this one, the nanoFlowcell tech demonstrates power as well as performance, managing to raise awareness of a car that is presently the lightest, least pollutant and safest electric vehicle.

La Vecchia stated that "For many people, the Quant 48Volt is a desirable sports car and the world's most advanced electric car. However, visionaries will see in this small power station, which could easily provide a fully autonomous supply of electricity to an average household, the future of environmentally compatible yet affordable energy supply."

At the moment, nanoFlowcell is showcasing its flow cell tech in the form of stunning sports cars in an almost exclusive manner. Nonetheless, the company thinks this tech has great potential in other industrial uses not just cars, especially in stationary energy applications.
