Q2 -The Smallest Audi SUV Went Into Production
|   Sunday, July 17, 2016
The Germans from Audi extended the Q family through the subcompact SUV Q2, an urban vehicle for daily driving, but also for recreation. The car was unveiled for the first time at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March and now the Germans have announced that their new car went into production.

The new Q2 will be manufactured in the plant from Inglostadt, the second factory in Europe by size, which assembles about 2,500 vehicles per day. The Q2 has a strong design and a high level in terms of functionality.

What catches the eye is the ceiling coming down and merging with the C pillars, providing a sporty and dynamic look. The youngest Audi car brand is 20 cm shorter than the Q3 and its exact dimensions are 1.51 meters high, 1.75 m wide and 4.9 m long, with a wheelbase of 2.6 m.

Inside, the new Q2 offers enough space for five people. The boot has a capacity of 405 liters and if you fold the rear seat you get about 1,050 liters.

Q2 perfectly combines the advantages of an SUV with those of a sports car: it offers good visibility and at the same time the driver and front passenger have a sporty feeling due to the seats. In addition, the sports seats are equipped with a system for lumbar support, heating, and a center armrest, all of which are available as an option. A carved inlay horizontally splits the front of the scoreboard into two areas and if customers opt for an instrument panel in two colors, the lower area will come in seat trim color.

Audi Q2 provides assistance and connectivity at a high level, like the Audi Virtual Cockpit, a heads-up display type and attractive infotainment module, which connects mobile phones, Android and iOS, with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto.

The technologies are latest generation: the radar system detects risky situations that arise and informs the driver, initializing if needed the brakes. A variety of systems are offered by Audi to make the driver's life easier: parking assistance, running assistance, the recognition of traffic signs system, the side assist system that acts when moving from one lane to another.

Prices start at 22,900 euros and reach 34,000 euros depending on the chosen motorization. Audi offers a wide choice of engines. The smallest engine is a gasoline powered one, has a displacement of 1.0 liters with 116 horsepower and a torque of 200 Nm between 2000 and 3500 rpm. It is followed by an engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters TFSI COD, four cylinders, 150 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm between 1500 and 3500 rpm. The top gasoline powered unit has a displacement of 2.0 liters, 190 horsepower, 320 Nm of torque between 1500 and 4180 rpm.

Diesel engines start with the entry level model with a displacement of 1.6 liters, 116 horsepower, 250 Nm of torque between 1500 and 3200 rpm. The best-selling model is the one with a displacement of 2.0 liters, 150 horsepower and six-speed manual transmission, rated at 190 horsepower, twin-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
