Public Appearances of Dan Akerson
|   Saturday, April 27, 2013
He is the amazing Dan Akerson.
The Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the General Motors who had remained silent for a very long time has been coming out in public very often this year.

It seems more like a business tactic which involves Akerson making public appearances after a long period so that people will wait to hear from him and he can tell others what has been going on with the company without having any negative intervention as the election year is gone already.

In recent weeks, he made a public appearance of one hour in the Squawk Box of the CNBC. This appearance was one of his eight public appearances that he has in his plans for this year.

There will be an interview of Dan Akerson and its duration will be one and a half hour. It will be an onstage interview and the venue will be the London School of Economics and Political Science. It is said t hat he w ill be talking about various things while focusing on delivering the address regarding the awards banquet.

According to Greg Martin, the environment is friendly for the company heads to make public appearances and talk about how they are moving forward. Greg Martin is the Executive Communications Director.
Starting this year, Akerson said that as it was imaginable that anything political will lead the company into presidential campaign, so wanted GM to stay away from any political activity in 2012.

January to June, the period of seven months was the period when the presidential campaign was at its peak and it was in this period that Dan Akerson completely went out of the scene making only one appearance which is exactly according to his statement above.

The total public appearances that Dan Akerson made last year are seven only. Twice, he made appearances for a very short period of time in different regions and once in the Capitol Hill. There are no other public appearan ces that he made last year and these figures are according to the Free Press Records.

Although there was democratic support for the Vice President in 2012 as there slogan during the campaign was "Osama is dead and General Motors is alive" but still, it had no great effect on the sale of the cars.

Republicans taunted the President Obama's auto rescue and due to this, GM considered it wise to ban both him and his rival so that there won't be any biasing for the General Motors and company won't get dragged in politics.

According to the director of the University of Delaware's Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, it is not a new thing that the companies who somehow manage to get out of the crises try to engage in activities to get public attention and to better public opinion about them.

Since Akerson has been showing up in the public lately, his actions can lead to reconnection of the General Manager but it does involve risks for Dan Akerson as he d oes not want to get too much attention.
