|   Thursday, July 11, 2013
Prices of the latest limousine from Mercedes Benz will start from £62,650 and is expected to be available in showrooms fall October 2013. Mercedes Benz has confirmed that the latest S Class will be available in markets worldwide before the end of the year while the S350 CDI will be the first vehicle to be rolled out. The S350 CDI will go on sale in the United Kingdom initially and sales will follow in other parts of the world soon after.

China plays an important part in sales and the S350 CDI will be unveiled in the country shortly.
The S350 CDI features three engine options ranged across a diesel, petrol and a hybrid power train. While the V8 petrol will be the range topping version. The diesel version will be available in two platform ranges while the stretch will feature a price tag £3,000 over the sedan.

The 3.0 liter petrol Blue Tech V6 engine displaces 255 BHP with a massive 620 Nm of torque while the CO2 emission figures are expected to be close to 146 g/km. Fuel efficiency is stated to be 51.4 MPG on a combined scale and although this criterion is not very important considering the class this vehicle will cater to.

The next vehicle up for launch is the S400 hybrid. This vehicle is powered by a petrol operated 3.5 liter V6 engine along with a 27 BHP displacing electric motor. Motors combined, the S400 is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 6.8 seconds while emitting 147 g/km of CO2. The S400 is however available only on a Left Hand Driven platform.

The S500 sits comfortably on the top of the range and is powered by a 4.7 liter V8 engine capable of displacing 449 BHP along with 700 Nm of torque. The S500 is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 4.8 seconds while sporting a top speed of 155 MPH. Base prices of the S500 start at £88,130. The new S Class is more expensive than its predecessor as well as the likes of the BMW 730d and the Audi R8 Quattro.

However, all three vehicles are completely different in character and have been designed to fulfill varied duties. While the S Class is a stretch, the BMW is an executive sedan while the Audi R8 is a sports coupe. Each of them have their own characteristics and are known to excel in their field of operation. Mercedes Benz is quite confident of the new S Class which features advanced electronics apart from LED head lamps, adaptive dampers and a new air suspension.

A 12.3 inch TFT screen is also included in the standard kit along with a DAB audio device and satellite navigation. Although AMG models are expected in future, they will sport a more aggressive body kit as compared to their standard cousins. Mercedes Benz however has not set up a deadline to launch any AMG powered unit. Customization options are however available on all S Class models.
