|   Monday, March 25, 2013
Just a little while ago we were drooling all over the cars displayed at the Geneva Auto Show, and now the Americans want to entice us into salivating on the floors of the 2013 New York Auto Show. The annual show taking place in one the world's biggest and most powerful cities is sure to attract a lot of criticism and 10 times as more positive feedback. After all, that was the case since the show's debut in 1900. That makes it the longest running auto show in the US as well as one the most important ones.

In the Jacob Javits Convention Center, the place where the event will be held, about 1000 cars will be on display. On top of that, over 100 special events will take place, like conferences, symposiums, award ceremonies, industry forums, roundtables, and of course parties. The press gets access this year to the event on March 27.

This means that a lot of sneak peeks and previews will be going on, as well as showcasing of 2013 and 2014 models. Naturally, we can expect to see a host of concept cars.

The show is also the place where we learn winner of the World and Performance Car of the Year awards. By now, this award in its ninth year of existence, and is steadily becoming one the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry worldwide.

So, here are just a few cars that will show up on the New York floors:
• 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG. This is one of the most anticipated cars of the year, of which we already know most details. A turbocharged 2.0 liter engine pumping out 360 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque will go into it.
• 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C. A supercharged 5.8liter V-8 is fitted, just like the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, but extensive work was done to raise horse count to 1200.
• 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. So far we only konw the refresh will "advance the design and performance attributes" of the muscle car. About time the 2010 model got some attention.
• 2014 SRT Viper TA. An excellent car that will be very exclusive seeing that only 33 models will be made.
• Subaru's Performance Concept. We don't know much about it, except rumors. It seems this will be the successor to the Subaru Impreza WRX.
• 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The biggest market for the carmaker being New York, it seems to be natural for the launch to take place here.
• 2014 Acura MDX. The production version of the third-generation MDX luxury SUV will finally hit the floors.
• 2014 BMW 328d. BMW offers a diesel in its latest F30 3-Series. Enough said.
• 2014 Jaguar XJR. The XJR name heads for a revival and they might just make it.
• 2013.5 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition. Weird naming, but since it will be launched in the middle of 2013…
• 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid. It's not a new model, it's the same, but it now gets a hybrid option.
Of course, there are many, many more cars ready to show off, so look forward to them.
