Presenting The Ferrari 488 GTB, The 458 Italia Replacement
|   Wednesday, February 18, 2015
The Ferrari 488 GTB was introduced as the replacement of 458 Italia. The model gives up the aspirated engine in favor of a twin turbo V8 engine and will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show (March 5 to 15, 2015).

Initially, a facelift of 458 was expected, but the changes applied necessitated a name change. The name is not random, 488 meaning the rounded individual displacement of each V8 cylinder, while the GTB is the acronym for "Gran Turismo Berlinetta".
The engine reaches maximum power of 670 hp at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 760 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The rear wheels receive those resources through a transmission with seven gears and two clutches.

The new Ferrari super car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.0 seconds, and 0 to 200 km / h in 8.3 seconds. Compared with the 458 Special, the new 488 GTB is a second faster per lap on the Fiorano circuit (and one second in addition to the standard 458), and 1.0 second faster going from 0 to 200 km / h.

The maximum speed of the model is over 330 km / h. Mixed fuel consumption is 11.4 liters per 100 km and emissions are 260 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The body has a length of 4,568 millimeters, a width of 1,952 mm and a height of 1,213 mm, while the weight is 1.370 kg, 10 kg less than the weight of the 458 Italia.

The Ferrari 488 GTB's new interior resembles that of the 458 Italia, but the new model has a redesigned interface control system, new ventilation slots and another instrument panel. The sporting ambience is designed to be controlled easily and intuitively, and those from Ferrari have taken all measures so that equipping the interior is done with as many classic elements of design as possible.

The 488 GTB's ignition key was redesigned with a shape inspired by the 90 degree angle of the two pairs of V motorization cylinders. In addition, the key of 488 GT is now just a necessary accessory in your pocket to start the engine and open the doors since the model now has a keyless start system.

Certainly, there are many more new elements to the 488 GTB than the turbo engine. It also provides a revised Side Slip Control 2 (SSC2) system running in parallel with the F1-Trac and E-Diff systems to maintain the supercar on the razor's edge without slipping off of it.

Also, the revised bodywork generates by 50 percent more downforce. This is possible due to the active diffuser.
The interior has likewise been revised with new cluster control, air vents, instrument panel and infotainment system, all for facilitating and optimizing control.
Lastly, as expected from any Prancing Horse engine, Ferrari's engineers have creating a new soundtrack that is full, clear and totally distinctive from anything on the road now.

The new Ferrari 488 GTB comes some 40 years after the debut of the classic 308 GTB.
