Porsche Working on New Petrol Electric Drive Train
|   Friday, June 14, 2013
German car making legend Porsche claims that every new vehicle from the company will feature an electric petrol hybrid drive train from now on. This new hybrid technology has been revealed in the latest Panamera and has been designed in such a manner so that it is easily packed into every future vehicle from the company. The new module will make an actual debut in the Porsche 918 Spyder along with the Panamera S E hybrid. Porsche is also planning on launching a Panamera Hybrid and this car will run on electric power alone.

While the E hybrid features a top speed of 168 MPH, the Panamera Hybrid is solely a concept at the moment. The E Hybrid features CO2 emission equaling 71 g/km and can travel up to 23 km solely on electric power. While the Panamera E Hybrid is completely different from the Hybrid, Porsche is looking forward to design the next generation plug in hybrid which is based on the MSB platform. Porsche could also install the new technology into a Bentley and this means that a new Hybrid Flying Spur is on the cards.

The next generation plug in Porsche should sport more power than the current generation and power displacement could be increased by 94 BHP at the least. A new densely packed battery network has been implemented and use of aluminum wires has been made instead of copper. Porsche is working on an induction charger technology that will help power the vehicles in future. This will eliminate the use of cables for charging as then the vehicles will draw power directly via induction.

Porsche plans on making their vehicles suitable for everyday use and as a result fuel economy is a major concern. The use of latest technologies ensures that Porsche is considered amongst vehicles capable of being used daily. Some of the conventional measures to save fuel include start / stop, engine off coasting, plus coasting and battery power usage. Porsche also plans on using intelligent fuel saving software which will calculate the distance needed to be covered and use up power accordingly.

The next generation Panamera could draw power from a 3.0 liter V6 engine, fulfilling the stringent Eu6 emission norms. The engine needs to operate for 30 seconds before catalytic conversions start and the transmission system starts functioning. During the meantime, the car has the ability to function solely on battery power. Hybrid installation is a very important and conventional technology and Porsche plans on using it well.

The eight speed transmission system from Porsche can be used efficiently without component modification and this is the best feature about the technology. Therefore parts can be replaced from time to time without having to worry about their availability. Temperature control units have been added to the vehicle to control the high temperatures time and again. Power electronics and oil cooler technologies are present to cool off the battery pack. Porsche is also offering three drive modes namely Full Electric, Sport and Hybrid Charging.
