Porsche Working on New Five Door Cayenne Coupe
|   Thursday, May 15, 2014
Porsche has plans for upgrading their Cayenne lineup, by introducing a five door coupe to range. Out insider claims that this vehicle is near production, as designing is in final stages. This car had been christened Cayenne Coupe even before it went up for designing, although we are unaware of the circumstances under which plans for this vehicle were conceived. Expected to draw power from a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid power trains, expect decent levels of performance.

Like most new SUVS from the Volkswagen Group, this one is also based on their latest MLB platform, which has been upgraded by Audi recently. Considering high market competition in class, Porsche has decided to launch a rival, in order to counter vehicles such as Range Rover's Sport, Mercedes Benz MLC and BMW's X6.
A ranked official at Porsche say that the company has been planning on an alternate vehicle based on their Cayenne SUV, while preserving their 911, Boxter and Cayman. Hence, a coupe was their best option, considering this situation. Porsche is well aware of the need for an SUV across global markets at this moment and this will play an important factor, while the Cayenne Coupe is cleared for production.

Porsche is currently readying their Leipzig plant to increase production capacity and this could play an important role in the Cayenne SUV's lifespan, if cleared. The third generation Cayenne is expected in 2017 and Porsche needs to upgrade its manufacturing facilities, if they want to meet demand. Porsche's new vehicle development phase is their selling strong point, while the Cayenne Coupe features minor design changes over its SUV twin.

Basic essence of both vehicles remains similar, although we believe their next generation SUV to feature minor design upgrades. Insiders have hinted at an edgier looking exterior, with overall styling changes to be modified by their current generation 918 Spyder. Sloping rear end, sleek skyline, along with a narrow glass house will help differentiate the Coupe from the SUV. Interior however is similar on both vehicles, which has been inspired by Porsche's 918 Spyder.

Expect the Coupe to be priced at a premium of 15 to 20 percent over its SUV, which suggests and entry level price tag of £50,000. Official confirmation regarding power train, technical and mechanical components is yet to be made, although experts have hinted at a 3.0 liter V6 power house to be best suited for a Coupe. Like every other vehicle from Porsche that we currently know of, expect Diesel, Turbo and GTS variants. A twin turbo charged V8 petrol engine sounds fun, while power displacements near 550 BHP is likely on their Turbo S variant.

Porsche plans on testing their chassis at Nürburgring as this is a very important part of their next generation vehicle. Ride height is expected to be lowered and has been designed keeping in mind overall performance figures. Expect crisp handling and massive amounts of stability, with little or no body roll. Looking for an advanced Sports Coupe? Porsche might just have an answer for you!
