Porsche Set to Showcase the Cayenne Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show
|   Wednesday, March 06, 2013
The Porsche Cayenne is a heavy weight car that weighs 2215 kg but has the ability to sprint from 0 – 60 MPH in less than 4.5 seconds. This is really impressive considering the weight, size and volume of the car. The aerodynamic package on the vehicle is not very impressive although the vehicle manages to reach a top speed of 176 MPH.

The figures are quite impressive and the second generation Cayenne could provide the perfect recipe that every dedicated SUV lover looks for.
The vehicle is practically huge, provides a decent amount of comfort, is blazingly fast and controls quite well. Overall this is the ultimate SUV to be inside while heading off on a long journey by road. The multi stage air suspension gives the Cayenne 273 mm if ground clearance and this is the largest setting supported by the vehicle.

Although off road tests have not been conducted as of yet, the vehicle looks like it could travel off road without much ado. The four wheel drive platform is quite impressive on the vehicle and the hardware is completely capable of driving this vehicle on any terrain thrown at it. The torque vectoring capability of the vehicle is new on a Porsche Cayenne, although the technology has been used to the fullest.

The V8 engine powering the vehicle has been modified slightly and this makes the petrol engine more responsive and its predecessor. The Cayenne Turbo is out of the league of most SUVs in the market and the vehicle cannot be compared to its predecessor as well. A similar engine has however been used on the Porsche Panamera Turbo S and the vehicle is smaller in size, hence giving it a better power to weight ratio.

The 4.8 liter engine faces minor power enhancing measures with a 90 degree direct fuel injection unit which receives better free flowing capability. The turbo charged boost pressure is ramped electronically while the power is enhanced by a 49 BHP totaling 542 BHP. The Cayenne Turbo could be the first Porsche off roader to go into production and the torque is also increased by 37 ft lbs to 553 ft lbs @ 2,250 – 4,500 RPM.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S uses a dual clutch seven speed PDK transmission system capable of heavy torque placement while the Cayenne uses an eight speed transmission system. The conventional torque converter is used to convert the torque formed by the vehicle, equally to all the wheels and this enhances power production in a way.

The upgraded engine on the Cayenne Turbo is the major reason behind the vehicle having a relaxed feel. Power delivery and displacement is quite linear and this makes driving an easy task. There are no unwanted vibrations or engine noise inside the cabin and the overall refinement level is quite advanced. However, considering the fact that the Cayenne is a Porsche, the refinement is nothing exceptional. Porsche claims a combined fuel efficiency of 24.6 MPG. This is a potential figure although on road tests have not been performed to corroborate the figure.
