Porsche Panamera SE Hybrid Taken for a Spin around the Track
|   Thursday, October 17, 2013
Porsche has unveiled its latest, tweaked version of the Panamera SE Hybrid and we were lucky enough to take this vehicle for a lap around the track. Hence, first person drive reviews of this monstrous beauty are finally available. Porsche claims that their new battery setup is more powerful than before. Hence, chances of greater distances being covered on equal power displacement are possible.

Performance is set to improve as an all electric drive train is now in place while better acceleration and torque displacement guarantees better dynamics than its predecessor.
Porsche has built in an advanced Hybrid mode which optimizes power source when left out to automatic mode. Users can drive in electric, hybrid or on conventional fuel and his switch can be made easily via the flick of a button.

Porsche claims a complete electric range of 22 Miles while this should alter considering basic EV range, temperature and weather condition along with surface traction condition. Its electric motor displaces a healthy 95 BHP while this vehicle can accelerate till 31 MPH solely on electric power while sporting a top speed of 84 MPH. However, the real fun starts when both these engines flare up to life.

This vehicle is perfect for cruising around highways and as Porsche initially said, this car actually eats up asphalt. Low end torque displacement is not of much trouble either which means users can easily get this vehicle to respond in traffic or through small turns. Although this is not the best bet within city perimeters, it does a better job than most vehicles in its class, would in certain circumstances.

Driving modes typically adjust displacement and torque and we can expect 410 BHP along with 435 ft lb of torque. This car accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH within 5.5 seconds while warp speed along with low speed thrusters help this car gain weight in low speed conditions. Drive dynamics is pretty relaxed while fuel and environment efficiency is high. This ensures comfort as well as accessibility and tax benefits and this should be of primary importance once this vehicle is available on road.

Dry weight of this vehicle has been limited to 2095 kg while heavy thrust is easily felt in high traffic. Porsche's Panamera S is a luxury vehicle with a large range of capabilities and features and its high end plug in technology is a gem. Expected to be priced near the £88,967, this vehicle is worth every penny while Porsche claims a fuel efficiency of 91.1 MPG, although this can be corroborated only after this vehicle is launched.

Its 2996 cc displacing V6 engine is considerably new although we are quite happy with its performance. The engine is mated to an eight speed automated transmission system while manual options are available on special request. Porsche is expected to make this vehicle available soon although we are yet to receive official confirmation regarding a launch date. We however anticipate an early 2014 global launch for this vehicle. Keep visiting this segment for latest news, updates and drive reviews.
