|   Friday, November 22, 2013
If until today we were talking about a single SUV in the Porsche range, the new Macan completes the German offer with a compact model and an extremely powerful one too. This Turbo version accelerates from 0 - 100 km / h in just 4.6 seconds!

The new Porsche Macan launches on the market with huge expectations, the Germans announcing super-optimistic forecasts for their new SUV sales: 50,000 units per year, a third of the total sales of the brand.
To achieve these figures, Macan charges the compact SUV segment, promising the best behavior on the road, and the best performances in the history of the class.

Based on the Audi Q5 platform and built in Leipzig, the Porsche has gone through a major technical change, Porsche engineers announcing serious structural changes in order to achieve stiffness as close to the Cayman-911pair. Speaking of structural changes, it must be stressed that the new model of the famous brands from Stuttgart comes with reinforced steel panels in the bodywork and doors, while the tailgate and hood are made of aluminum.

The Porsche Macan will be offered in three engine versions, all highlighted by classic names already known from the German brand's range. The entry-level version will be the Porsche Macan S, and the top will be Macan Turbo. Between them we will have the Macan S Diesel.

The Porsche Macan S is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 340 horsepower and 460 Nm. Porsche announces time to accelerate from 0-100 km / h to take 5.4 seconds (5.2 with the optional Sport Chrono package), and a combined fuel consumption of 9.0 liters / 100 km.

The Macan Diesel S version has under the hood an interesting V6 that develops 255 hp and a healthy torque of 580 Nm, a numbers that allows the German SUV to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds (6.1 with the optional Sport Chrono) the weakest time of all the original Macan versions. The average consumption announced by the manufacturer is 6.3 liters / 100 km.

The new Porsche Macan Turbo is equipped with a twin-turbo V6 displacing 3.6 liters that develops 400 hp and 550 Nm, managing to fall below the psychological barrier of 5.0 seconds for the 0 - 100 km / h sprit. With 4.8 seconds, the new absolute landmark in the segment (4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono package), the Porsche Macan Turbo announces a mixed average fuel consumption of 9.2 liters / 100 km.

In terms of suspensions, the customers will be able to choose between three settings: multilink suspension on the front and a trapezoidal rear system is available in standard mode, PASM active suspension package (the Porsche Active Suspension Management) is offered optionally and the Germans up the stakes with a set of unique air suspensions in the segment, which benefits from PASM, and three versions of operating: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. In addition, the driver can set the ground clearance of Macan, in a range of 4 cm with the maximum height above the ground being 23 cm.
