Porsche Macan promises to be a Class Leading SUV
|   Saturday, July 06, 2013
The latest spy images of the Porsche Macan have come in and the vehicle was spotted running road tests in America. These warn weather tests are being conducted on the Porsche as the car will be sold in areas with mostly warm and humid weather and as a result these tests play an important role in understanding the way in which the engine will react to the situations.

The Macan was spotted testing in the Arctic region previously and was also spotted testing at the Nurburgring track.
Porsche plans on officially launching the production version of the car fall October 2013. The latest spy images show the interior if the vehicle which was previously unseen and the Macan sports similar features as that of the Panamera. The exterior draws inspiration from the Porsche Cayenne although the Macan is clearly the younger cousin to the Cayenne.

The ride height of the Macan is visibly lower than that of the Cayenne and the wider windscreen along with the sloped roof line helps this vehicle maintain its sharp image. The Macan is designed and built around the light weight and futuristic MLB platform designed by Volkswagen and this is a capable front wheel driven SUV.

The power house behind the Porsche Macan is a 370 BHP displacing twin turbo charged V6 engine capable of producing 400 ft lb of torque. The high power displacement makes the Macan a potentially powerful on and off road SUV and this property makes the Macan a one of a kind cross over from Porsche. This vehicle has the style and power to outdo any small SUV in its range and Porsche is banking on this particular ability of the vehicle.

With bigger players such as Range Rover, BMW and Mercedes Benz in the race, the Macan will face stiff competition in the market but the designers and engineers at Porsche have built a car which is capable of providing a strong resistance to the market competition. The four cylinder engine powering the Macan was previously used in other vehicles from Porsche and the first generation of the engine was developed in 1995.

This 2.0 liter petrol drive train is capable of displacing 220 BHP which means that the Macan is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 7.5 seconds. Porsche claims that the Macan is capable of reaching a top speed of 143 MPH while the diesel engine will be displacing a total of 180 BHP. Porsche has also introduced a 3.6 liter V6 diesel engine into the Macan and this engine displaces 295 BHP.

Another 3.0 liter diesel engine displacing 250 BHP will also be available. Porsche is also considering building a hybrid engine whereas the company could also be using a 3.0 liter diesel S engine designed by Audi in its future variants of the Macan. Customers are spoilt for choice when it comes to the Macan and Porsche is willing to offer a varied lineup of engines if the customers approve of the idea.
