Porsche is considering merging the Cayman R and GT3 to create the Cayman GT3
|   Wednesday, April 10, 2013
Porsche SE a German automobile manufacturing company is one of the few mighty European car makers. Since 1931 when Dr. Ferdinand Porsche founded the company it has been giving us some magnificent cars. Some of those are the Porsche Boxster, the Panamera, and the Cayanne. In the category of sports car Porsche created the 911, the Cayman and also the Carrere GT. But the popular of them all is the 911 GT3.

Now when we hear the name 911 GT3 the first thought comes in mind is what does the GT stands for? Well the GT stands for Gran Tourismo or Grand Touring.
Cars having great luxury features with powerful engine or in short, comfortable fast cars. Now the Porsche 911 GT3 is the third generation of the 911 GT series. Some call the GT3 gifted and talented.

The 911 GT3 falls in the GT3 class. It is fast and mean like the BMW M3. The 911 car was made by Porsche and then they made some adjustments with the chassis and engine for the GT1 class race. That gave birth to the 911 GT series cars. The GT2 class version car of the 911 won many races. Then Porsche created the 911 GT3. The GT3 first came to existence in 1999. Since then the GT3 made a name for it.

Another fine sports car from Porsche is the Cayman. It is a rear wheel drive two seat mid rear engine sports car. The Cayman was launched in the year 2006. It was the evolution of Porsche's most popular roadster category car the Porsche Boxster. The Cayman replaced the Boxster. The car was named after the reptile caiman. In 2007 the Cayman S was introduced. A limited edition of the Cayman S known as the Cayman S sports was also hit the market in late 2007. The Cayman R was launched in 2011.

Now Porsche is looking forward to create a GT3 variant of the Cayman. They are calling it the Cayman GT3. The Cayman GT3 will be more powerful and less in weight than the conventional Cayman S and also it will be equipped with Gt3's usual manual transmission. The car might get a mixed look from the Cayman R and the Boxter Spyder.

According to company sources, Porsche is very keen on this build and is set to launch this product very soon. The R tag will be replaced with the GT3 tag on such an event. However, the management is unwilling to give out more details at the moment as plans are still at their preliminary stages.

However, it could be a reality quite soon if things go according to plan. Porsche enthusiasts are hopeful of such a merger and the company is set to inform people of any future progress made on this topic. This is major news around the world which is forcing car companies to rethink their primary policies for the upcoming years.
