Porsche Confirms Plans to Unveil the 911 GT2
|   Monday, June 03, 2013
Porsche has confirmed that the 911 Turbo will provide the basics for the next generation 911 GT2 which is set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. A computer generated image of what could be the next generation GT2 has been unveiled although its authenticity has not been confirmed as of yet. The vehicle's generalized traits resemble that of any Porsche designed vehicle although this may not be the final rendering of what the GT2 may look like.

The GT2 is expected to sport similar mechanical components as that of the Turbo S and that includes the latest flat six, 3.8 twin liter turbo charged petrol engine displacing 552 BHP which is mated to a dual clutch automatic transmission system. According to insiders at Porsche, the GT2 will be able to reach 200 MPH while accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 3 seconds.

All this is however hypothetical as a proto type of the vehicle has not been manufactured as of yet and hence the figures cannot be corroborated. The big news with the Porsche 911 GT2 is that the vehicle is set to get rid of the four wheel drive platform of the 911 Turbo S. Porsche claims that the 911 GT2 will feature a rear wheel drive platform and this is set to give the vehicle a greater boost when it comes to performance.

Porsche is also considering working on a 620 BHP displacing RS version of the 911 although this is just in its pre designing stages. Porsche is pinning all hopes on the recently unveiled 911 Turbo S and the success of the vehicle will determine the success of the GT2 as both vehicles are practically based on similar drive trains and platforms.

Although Porsche is yet to comment on the issue, experts believe that the GT2 could be showcased by the end of the year considering the fact that the Porsche 911 Turbo S will be showcased at Frankfurt this September. The Porsche GT2 is one of the most awaited cars of the year and the car is set to be successful like every GT from Porsche.
