Porsche and Peugeot Showcases Their Upcoming Vehicles
|   Thursday, June 27, 2013
The latest Porsche LMP1 successfully completed its first official test run at Porsche's own facility in Stuttgart. The LMP1 was officially designed to take part in the 24 Hours Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship next year on and the first test run was conducted on the vehicle few weeks ahead of schedule. The production is heading according to plan and the people related to the car are quite happy with the way the project is shaping up.

Porsche's main objective is to get the LMP1 track ready by the end of the current year.
The sooner the company finishes development works, the more time the vehicle will receive for testing. 2014 onwards, efficiency will play a major part in most world events and Porsche had to keep that in mind while designing the LMP1.

This was a completely new challenge for major car makers in the world and hence provided more challenge to the engineers at Porsche. Challenge is part of the day's work and was hence gladly accepted. The entire process of designing, engineering and production was handled by the engineering and other related teams at the Porsche Motor Sport Center and close to 200 people have been working relentlessly on the success of the vehicle.

Porsche decided to go back to its endurance racing days and as a result its production division had to take care of its new projects along with the other pre production projects. Expansion was therefore the only option left to the team. The LMP1 proto type faces a tough challenge up front and will be tested thoroughly throughout the course of the next few weeks to determine its strong and weak points which could affect the performance of the car once it is ready for production.

Peugeot has previewed its most powerful version of the RCZ till date – the RCZ R. This car is powered by a turbo charged 1.6 liter petrol engine displacing 260 BHP while the company claims that the engine displaces just 155 g/km of CO2. This is the fastest production vehicle from Peugeot in the entire history of the country.

The RCZ R is different from the RCZ in more ways than one and the primary distinguishing factor of the vehicle is its exterior. Performance figures have increased and the RCZ R achieves a top speed of 146 MPH while accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 7.6 seconds. The RCZ R is equipped with a limited slip differential from Torsen along with an all new suspension setting while specifically designed alloyed wheels have been added exclusively to the ride.

Peugeot showcased the RCZ R at the Geneva and Paris Motor Shows and the vehicle managed to receive critical comments from the guests and industry effluents on both occasions. The RCZ R is without doubt the best looking vehicle Peugeot has ever designed and the coupe design can be related to the last generation Audi TT, although there are more differences than similarities. The RCZ R could very well change the face of the company as we know it.
