PORSCHE 2014 911 TURBO S - A WIKCKED-FAST STREET CAR
|   Saturday, September 07, 2013
Porsche has a history of releasing super fast turbocharged cars from as early as 1973 in which the Germany-based automobile company introduced its first Turbo prototype. From then on there were many innovations made to the engine but the body of a Porsche remained same as a predecessor. Just when the Porsche Automobile was losing its charm among the people, the release of Porsche Carrera and Porsche 911 brought life back in the Company. Since then Porsche has never been behind in any aspect in terms of producing fast and stylish cars.

Recently Porsche released the details of the much awaited 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The 911 Turbo is the flagship of Porsche. It is one of the most successful competition car ever made. The 2011-2012 model of 911 S was powered by a 3.8 litre 400 horsepower engine and goes from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. Whereas the 2014 is much updated from the previous 911 S. It has the same rear fitted flat six-cylinder 3.8 litre engine which produces 560 horsepower and 487 pound-feet torque. But when you opt for the Sports plus Package, this racing machine produces 560 horsepower and a whooping 516 pound-feet of torque. Now here comes the interesting part, the transformation of simple 911 to 911 S does not merely means to add two Turbochargers.

It takes a great deal of engineering as it effects every aspect of the car, however it all hides inside the slight wider body of Porsche 911 Turbo S. Porsche 911 Turbo S will now come with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission which is updated from the previous 6-speed manual transmission as could not have coped with the enormous power produced by the Twin-Turbo engine of 911 Turbo S. With all the incredible power it will take only 2.9 seconds for the new Porsche to accelerate from 0-60 mph. It can reach a maximum speed of 210 mph but it is electronically restricted to 197 mph due to tire limitations.

Porsche brings no major innovation to the exterior of 911 Turbo S. It is a little wider by 1.1 inches on both sides as compared to the simple 911 and Carrera models. The rear is also aggressively sculptured to give the car a distinct and sporty look. An upgrade of full-LED lights is also added in the new Porsche. The Turbo S has 20" alloy wheels which are fitted with a standard six-piston monobloc aluminium brake callipers on which you can place your blind trust due to the hi-tech carbon-ceramic brakes.

The interior of the new Porsche is completely revamped. It now comes with a Bose Sound System, Adaptive Sports Seats with 18-way adjustment along with a beautiful red and black trim.

Porsche 911 Turbo S will face serious competition as the new 2014 Nissan GT-R is being called as the Supercar killer. Audi is also releasing its R8 which is a V-10 monster. Porsche 911 Turbo better be good or the cheaper and faster cars will beat it easily in the near future. Tag Price: $ 181,100.00
