Pictures of the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Revealed

Lamborghini had been talking about a Gallardo replacement for some time now and the company has finally revealed the Huracan. This vehicle is powered by a V10 engine displacing more than 600 BHP with a top speed of 200+ MPH. It is based on an all wheel drive train and should reach showrooms in Europe by autumn 2014. Lamborghini will officially launch this vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show this March although a quick preview is expected prior to that event.

This vehicle was initially named the Cabrera but officials later chose the Huracan LP 610-4. Lamborghini continues with its tradition of naming vehicles after legendary bulls, Huracan being a famous creature to have fought in 1879 at Alicante, Spain. Basic similarities between the Gallardo and Huracan are evident on this vehicle as insiders expect similar success from it as well.

The Lamborghini Gallardo sold a record 14,022 units since it was introduced across global markets a decade ago. The Huracan is based on modern technology with cues borrowed from the Gallardo platform. This means we can look up to a modernized Gallardo with various performance and visual changes. Everything on the Huracan is new, starting from under the hood to interiors.

Lamborghini's Gallardo was feeling underpowered and under dressed when compared to high end rivals such as McLaren's MP4 12C and the Ferrari 458. Hence, Lamborghini decided to come up with a Gallardo replacement. Its chassis is composed out of aluminum and carbon fiber, which according to the engineering department will give the car its much needed stiffness, while reducing weight.

Track performance should improve along with handling on street and Lamborghini claims that the second generation Audi R8 will be sharing this platform with Huracan LP 610-4. Even though Lamborghini originally planned on using a carbon fiber monocoque chassis for this vehicle, parent firm Audi was skeptical as it would be quite costly for its R8.

As both vehicles were sharing basic structures, heading with the aluminum and carbon fiber chassis was deemed practical. Even though Lamborghini is yet to officially state dimensions or technical specifications of its Huracan, we believe it is slightly larger than the Gallardo. We have been informed that its chassis features reinforced plastic and carbon fiber moulds apart from aluminum.

Even though weight reduction techniques are in place, the Huracan weighs 12 kg more than the Gallardo. This is put solely on interior and luxury modifications even though Lamborghini claims aerodynamic modifications have neutralized performance. Luxury sports car finish with menacing track car performance is expected off this vehicle and we are impatiently waiting to get behind the wheel of this monster.

We expect a 5.2 liter V10 to be its primary source of power while both direct and indirect fuel injection systems are available. With a top speed of 202 MPH, this vehicle accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.2 seconds, 0.5 seconds lesser than the Gallardo. Fuel economy varies between 19.2 MPG to 22.6 MPG while CO2 emission is down to 290 g/km.
