Photos And Official Info On Third Generation Skoda Fabia
|   Sunday, August 31, 2014
One of the most sold Skoda models goes on to its third generation starting 2014. The Fabia shall be aligned to the lines adopted by the recent design modifications of the brand and thus becomes a much more modern car. After long weeks of teasing, the new Fabia has been shown in details with the Czech manufacturer finally releasing the first official images of one of its best selling models.

The replacement for the antique Favorit and Felicia reaches its third generation.
Since its launch in 1999, it was one of the moves that Skoda made to cut ties with the past and adopted a new fashion, much more modern.

The new Fabia is an evolved car in all areas, the most relevant being the exterior design. More mature, the Fabia 3 receives lines that evoke its WV Polo brother, which with the new Fabia shares the production platform. The Czech model misses the MQB platform, the new and modern production template of the Volkswagen Group. The only Czech model that has the honor of receiving MQB treatment remains Octavia.

The Fabia in its 2014 version maintains very little connection to the previous generation in terms of design. In fact, only the traditional C of the rear lights can be considered a relic of the transition. However, small class model lines appear familiar. The reason is the fact that it adopted the new design philosophy of the Mlada Boleslav brand so that the front grille and geometric lines are viewed in a slightly modified form, as seen on the Rapid, Octavia and Yeti facelift.

Skoda chief designer, Josef Kaban, said that the main inspiration for the new Fabia is the Vision C concept, which we saw this spring at the Geneva Motor Show, but common ideas are not necessarily found in the front or rear, but in details, such as pillars, door lines, or the rear window. A notable element left over from the previous generation is a choice of different shades for the ceiling, a feature highly appreciated by customers.

Remaining a secret still, the interior photos will probably be revealed by Skoda during this autumn, at the official presentation of the model, which will be held at the Paris Show in early October. We know already that space devoted to passengers increases, and the trunk promises to become the most spacious in the B segment, which means that it will exceed that of the Dacia Sandero (320 liters).

Fabia will make a pass at high tech gadgets, benefiting among other things from the Mirror Link system, which allows mobile phone contents on the central display, and packs of active safety and driving assistance, which thus make an appearance in the B segment area within the Volkswagen Group.

In the engine chapter, the differences between the Polo facelift - recently released - and the new Skoda Fabia are minor. In terms of petrol motorization, customers will have a choice of engines with outputs ranging from 60 hp to 110 hp, the last being a revised 1.2 TSI with increased power from 105 hp.

Those who prefer diesel engines can go with a 1.4 TDI rated at 75 hp, 90 hp or 105 hp, depending on preference and budget. There will be a Greenline version of this engine in its 75 hp version, announcing an average consumption of only 3.1 liters / 100 km.
