Peugeot Showcases the Face Lifted 3008 for 2014
|   Friday, August 30, 2013
Peugeot had announced plans to launch a redesigned 3008 for 2014 and the company has gone ahead with its plans and showcased the first images of the vehicle. 2014 will see the 3008 and the 3008 Hybrid up for sale and both these vehicles will make their public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The redesigned 3008 has an all new front grille with redesigned headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lights along with a smart new bumper set.

The additional chromed parts also lend their characteristic appeal to the vehicle.
The tail lamps have been modified as well while 16 and 18 inch rims are available as standard on both editions of the 3008. The side panels have also been upgraded and they lend the car a sophisticated aesthetic. Peugeot has paid attention to details on the 3008 and this vehicle could attract major sales if the production version of the car manages to retain these features and functionalities.

The interior has also been uplifted although the changes are subtle. Additional switchgear, new upholstery and an improved trim level can be seen overall. The metallic trim level also looks good inside the cabin. The 3008 is powered by five different drive trains and the list includes 1.6 liter eHDI FAP engine displacing 115 BHP, 1.6 liter HDI FAP displacing 115 BHP, 2.0 liter HDI FAP displacing 150 and 165 BHP depending upon the engine choice. The list also includes a 1.6 liter VTi displacing 120 BHP and a 1.6 liter THP displacing 155 BHP.

The 3008 Hybrid is expected to draw power from a 2.0 liter HDi FAP while an electric motor is attached to its rear wheels. This setup gives the car a combined power displacement capability of 200 BHP while fuel efficiency stagnates at 69.1 MPG. Peugeot is currently on an updating spree and the 3008 is the third vehicle to be updated by Peugeot recently. The 308 R and the 208 GTi were updated recently while the 5008 is expected to join the fray quite soon.

Unlike the general diesel electric hybrid power train on most vehicles from Peugeot, the 3008 is a petrol electric hybrid. This makes the car cleaner and more refined and Peugeot hopes to attract major tax benefits as a result of it. The new 1.2 liter petrol engine is also worth every penny and this little naturally aspirated engine is worthy of the hype and price. Engineers at Peugeot have efficiently managed to devise a powerful yet efficient engine which is powerful enough to power the 3008.

Even though the base dimensions of the 3008 remain unchanged, the car is quite heavy considering the fact that it is an SUV. The engine needs to generate a tremendous amount of power to propel the car. The new drive train lineup surprisingly manages to hold on to the vehicle and is refined enough not to squeal under the pressure and weight of the vehicle. Overall, the future looks bright for Peugeot.
