Peugeot L500 R Hybrid - Next Futuristic Racing Car Bearing The French Name
|   Sunday, June 26, 2016
When Peugeot designers let loose their imagination really impressive concepts are born. If only a tenth of those ideas would get onto series models the French manufacturer would be more successful. The same thing can be said about the new concept, called L500R hybrid, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary since the victory in the Indianapolis 500.

In terms of strength, agility and stature, we are confident that the new French car from Peugeot will stand out from the crowd.
This is also the opinion of specialists who have examined this car. The Peugeot L500 R Hybrid is probably the next racing car, primarily due to its specifications and characteristics.

On May 30 1916, a Peugeot L45, driven by Dario Resta, won the legendary Indianapolis 500 race with an average speed of 135 km / hour. One hundred years later, the Peugeot L500 R Hybrid pays tribute to this race and to the team that brought three superb victories at Indianapolis between 1913 and 1919.
The L45 racing car took over duties from the L76 car, from 1912, which was the first in the world that used a four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder plus a camshaft. In addition, the L76 was the first race car which hit at that time the speed of 190 km / hour.

So, the Peugeot L500 R Hybrid is a concept developed to celebrate history, but at the same time is a car that gives us a glimpse at the future of motor racing. Even if it is a car that celebrates the glorious past, it is an extremely modern one, and this is due primarily to the drivetrain, which provides no less than 500 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque.

The concept fully embraces the asphalt to give it full potential. Its profile is low, the car being only one meter tall and the weight is also low, at only 1,000 kilograms. Analyzing all these aspects, we can say that the L500R Peugeot Hybrid is a car designed for performance.

It needs only 2.5 seconds to reach 100 km / h and 19 seconds to cover 1000 meters. Developed by Peugeot Sport, the 500 horsepower hybrid has two electric motors, one in front and the second in the back, plus a gasoline engine of 270 horsepower.
In terms of style, the car has supple lines, which run from the grid line with the lion Peugeot emblem, towards the driver, and ends with a simplified rear part, which highlights the rear lamps.

The paint also hints at the Motorsport area, the Peugeot L500 R Hybird model wearing the black and blue worn by the original L45.
The novelty of the car comes from the interior, where Peugeot specialists have designed space just for a seat, only for the driver. Here, the driver can use a virtual co-pilot through a virtual reality helmet. Therefore, the new car from Peugeot is also inspired by performance and innovation, being elegant at the same time, and may even be the future of motorsports too.
