Peugeot Is All Set To Showcase the Peugeot 208 XY THP 156
|   Sunday, April 14, 2013
Peugeot is set to enhance its image in the market segment and the company plans on doing so by moving the quality of the vehicles up-market. The latest offering from Peugeot is the 208 XY. This vehicle is powered by a variety of engine options ranging from 1.6 liter, 118 BHP displacing petrol engine to a 1.6 liter e-HDI engine displacing 113 BHP. The turbo charged petrol engine variant is the 1.6 liter THP and this machine is capable of displacing 154 BHP.

Every engine option is mated to a six speed transmission system and this maintains linear power delivery. Prices for the base model start at £16,545 and ranges up to £18,045 while the THP turbo diesel model is priced at £17,495. These are the big vehicles which are capable of pulling up Peugeot's image as a hard seller and the company has used a variety of strategies to attract customers across all age groups.

The dark metallic purple paint scheme is the identity of the 208 XY and the interior has also been enhanced to give the vehicle an up-market feel. Peugeot is also offering a white paint scheme for the 208 XY while 17 inch sports rims have been issued as standard. This vehicle is bound to have more road presence than a standard 208 and this is mainly accredited to the 208 XY's body kit adjustment.

The three door hatch back features a panoramic roof and Peugeot has used the male and female chromosome tag to point this vehicle out as unisex. The 208 XY looks like an expensive car from every direction, but in reality it is priced within the reach of most customers. The quality of the parts is up-market and this vehicle is set to attract both the young as well as the older generation across both genders.

Optional features include Club Nappa leather seats and this is bound to push the price tag further up. Alcantara inserts are the next best thing and they are optional too. The seats and suspension settings are quite comfortable and although the vehicle has not been sent up to a formal road test as of yet, the ride is expected to be quite comfortable.

Handling is speculated to be better than its predecessor as the ride height has been lowered. The vehicle has a feline impression and the mean and aggressive looks quickly turns violent as the pedal is floored. There is a certain level of sophistication about this vehicle and Peugeot promises that buyers will not be disappointed by the XY. The driving position is quite balanced while the dials and knobs are quite close to the person at the wheel.

The Peugeot 208 XY THP 156 is a one of a kind machine designed to bring back the GTI engines. Peugeot is set to attract a mass market share with this hot hatch and the plan should be effective enough. With 0 – 60 MPH possible in 7.9 seconds, the XY truly lives up to the reputation of being a fast hatch back.
