Peugeot 208 BlueHDi: Absolute Mileage Record Holder
|   Thursday, May 21, 2015
The new version BlueHDi Peugeot 208 with the 1.6-liter unit rated at 100 HP has set a new record in terms of fuel consumption over long distances approved by UTAC. Over 2,152 kilometers were traveled with only 43 liters of diesel, achieving an average fuel consumption of just 2.0L/100km.

This record confirms the technological excellence of the Euro 6 BlueHDi diesel engine and its contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

The performance was established at the end of April, on the Peugeot test circuit from Belchamp, France, being supervised by the French homologation authority UTAC (Union Technique de l'Automobile du motocycle et du Cycle).
A Peugeot 208 series version equipped with the 1.6-liter engine, BlueHDi, rated at 100 hp and associated with a manual gearbox with five reports, ran for 38 hours a distance of 2,152 km, scoring an amazing fuel consumption of only 43 liters of fuel.

Thus, the new Peugeot 208 sets an absolute mileage record for a production car over long distances. To achieve this result many drivers were changed every 3 - 4 hours behind the wheel during the test.

This Peugeot 208 model which has been tested is a version with a very low fuel consumption and is available in the commercial network. With an approved combined fuel efficiency of 3.0 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 79 g / km, it also occupies a position of reference in the world for a production model equipped with a heat engine.

The version is extremely easy to identify, thanks particularly to the aerodynamic rear spoiler, fitted with Michelin Energy Saver tires with ultra-low rolling resistance. The values obtained are already exceptional, however, the dynamic qualities of the new Peugeot 208 - compact, lightweight, fun to drive - create all the prerequisites advance the success story.

By combining exclusive use of SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and FAP additive, the BlueHDi technology proves once again that it is the most efficient and powerful diesel emission control system on the market.

The new Peugeot 208 sold in Europe starting this June proposes a range of Euro 6 gasoline and diesel that are extremely efficient and frugal. Regarding CO2 emissions, the gasoline range displays remarkable values that start at 97g/km while the diesel versions in the BlueHDi range now entirely go down below 95 g/km.

Peugeot quickly reduced CO2 emissions from all vehicles. The rapid adoption of the 3-cylinder petrol PureTech powertrain and BlueHDi Diesel, as well as new 1.6-liter THP petrol engines and EAT6 transmission have determined that the 20 Peugeot vehicles are, at this moment, at the best level for their power class in terms of CO2 emissions (five PureTech versions, three 1.6-liter THP versions and 12 BlueHDi).

The entire range of engines complies with the requirements imposed by the Peugeot brand and is extremely environmentally friendly, with cleaner engines which emit increasingly less CO2. The environmental performance, achieved by Peugeot places PSA Peugeot Citroen at the top of the European leaderboard in 2014, with an average of 110.3 g/km of CO2, while the average in Europe is 123.7 g/km.
