Paris International Motor Show 2012: McLaren showcases a number of supercars
|   Friday, September 21, 2012
McLaren is all set to launch its new super car, the P1. The company claims that it is till date the best and fastest McLaren ever built and the company's sole target is to be considered as the best driver's car, both on and off the race track.

The company claims that top speed is not a matter of concern when it comes to McLaren but sources claim that the vehicle has been introduced to challenge the Bugatti Veyron, the fastest street legal car in today's world.

The specifications have not yet been officially launched but the car is rumored to produce 960 BHP thanks to the formula one inspired, single styled Kinetic Energy Recovery Booster. The car is focused on decreasing the lap times and the vehicle is estimated to be priced around 800,000 Pounds in the UK.

The P1 however will be a limited edition car with only 500 units distributed worldwide on special request. The bookings of the car have already started and this vehicle is set to be purchased by high profile bureaucrats, car collectors and existing McLaren customer. These people will be given preference in case of shortage and that seems to be a probability at the moment.

The car will be showcased at the Paris International Motor Show 2012 and this is still in it s concept stages. The final vehicle will be ready by early next year and will be showcased across the globe next year. The P1 is the accumulation of the results of five decades of racing heritage.

McLaren entered the racing circuit two decades ago and the P1 is the next big invention post the occasion. Spokespeople from McLaren commented that shaving off valuable seconds off the lap timings is the main criterion for the P1 designers and the car is a track vehicle, keeping in mind McLaren's racing history.

The car may not be the fastest in a head to head drag race, but will definitely be the fastest in ant track at any moment. Engineers from McLaren plan on creating the finest track car till date and the P1 is surely set to live up to its reputation.

McLaren refuses to showcase any further details regarding the vehicle ahead of the Paris International Motor Show 2012 and the disclosure of the specifications are expected post the event.

McLaren will unveil the new MP4 – 12 C, the P1's younger sister at the event and some of the visually similar features of the car are the rear wings and the wind screen. Apart from that the cars are different in all aspects.

The MP4 – 12 C is set to be a direct rival to Porsche Motor's 911 series and both the companies are tight lipped about the event. The dramatic styling of the vehicles is McLaren's forte and interior specification is just rumored as no official announcement has been made till date.

Whether you own one of these beauties is not a concern. However, the people at the Paris Motor Show will be in for a visual treat for sure.
